“Thanks for coming to my impromptu meeting,” Exa said.

“I didn’t do it,” Skye told her.

Exa side-eyed the twin. “You didn’t do what?”

“Whatever you heard. I didn’t do it.”

Exa shook her head. There was no way she’d be able to give this team up.

“Whatever you did, I’ll find out,” Exa told her. “Just like I found out you’ve been telling the twins bloody bedtime stories.”

Skye’s eyes widened. “Hey, the stories I told those little children of the corn were not bloody. Plus, I went online and searched for better bedtime stories to tell them. Some of those stories were darker than the one I came up with. Like the three little pigs. In case you didn’t know, the wolf eats them. That’s dark. Oh, and Snow White. Why did that heffa live alone with seven men? That’s nasty. And then there’s Rapunzel. She actually let a guy use her hair to climb a wall. I wish I would let some random dude touch my hair.”

Arson burst out laughing.

“What?” Skye asked.

“Nothing,” Exa told her. “We’re getting sidetracked. Today’s meeting isn’t about anything you all did. It’s about something I need to do. It’s about the judge.”

Everyone sat up a little straighter in their seats.

“What did he do now?” Arson asked.

“Scar just told me that the judge ordered him to hand me over within one week. If he doesn’t, the judge will start sending assassins after us.”

“We’ll just kill them, gift wrap them, and send them back to his ass,” Arson told her.

“That sounds like the perfect plan,” Exa agreed. “But we don’t have time for that. Not with this Triad thing looming over our heads.”

“Ahh, shit.” Arson leaned back in her seat. “That’s right. Okay. No biggie. We’ll just rearrange our schedules some. We’ll have to take him out before Destruction arrives in four days.”

“I’ll check the cameras to see if he’s home,” Seven volunteered.

“I’ll get four duffle bags ready,” Skye added.

“This isn’t a Timeless job,” Exa told them. “You’re not coming with me to do this.”

Arson glared at her. “We’re damn sure not letting you go alone.”

“I won’t be alone. Scar is coming with me.”

Now they were all glaring at her.

“I mean, I like Scar and all,” Skye said. “But must he follow you everywhere?”

“He must,” Exa told her, joking.

“Seriously, Exa,” Arson said. “I think it should be us that go with you. This is the judge. He’s been a thorn in your side for most of your life. How could we not go with you to bring an end to him terrorizing you? Your enemy is our enemy. We’re in this together.”

“I understand why you feel the need to come, Arson. I do. But you can’t. There’s too much going on for all of us to leave the safe house right now. In case I get held up, someone needs to be here when Des arrives. And Dean is coming tomorrow. He may have more news on the Letisha situation. You all need to be here in case he does.”

“That’s true,” Arson muttered. “Damn it. I still don’t like this. You wanted to ruin his career before you killed him. You had a whole plan in place.”

Exa nodded. “I know. In real life, things don’t always go as you planned. So, I have to adjust my plan. I don’t like it either. But, it is what it is.”

“Okay,” Arson said. “We’ll do things your way. What do you need us to do?”

Exa proceeded to tell her team what she needed.
