“It’s good to see you, boss,” Lino greeted him.
“Talk,” Enzo said.
“Okay. But, uh, why is Stefan leaving?” Lino looked nervously at Stefan, who was driving off.
Enzo snapped his fingers in front of Lino’s face, bringing his cousin’s attention back to him.
“He’s running errands for me. Why? Do you not want to be alone with me?”
“It’s not that.” Lino swiped his hand over his face. “It’s just that Stefan always reminds you to stay calm. With him gone, who’s going to do that?”
“Are you about to tell me something that will make me lose my cool?”
“Well....” Lino shrugged. “It doesn’t take much for you to lose it.”
Enzo smiled.
Lino frowned. “Why are you smiling? Don’t do that. It’s creeping me out.”
Enzo chuckled.
“Seriously, Enzo, are you okay? Uncle Ermanno’s passing has been hard on all of us. But you were the closest to him. I can’t imagine what you’re going through. If you need to take some time off...”
“I’m good,” Enzo told him. “Grandfather left me a parting gift.”He left me Eve.“It’s because of that gift that I’m smiling. Tell me what you want while I’m in a good mood. Perhaps, we can both leave here without blood on our hands.”
“Yeah, because, you know, it’s daytime. We don’t need to spill blood during the daytime.”
“Lino!”
“Alright. Follow me into my office.”
