“You know, this could be a perfect opportunity to cut the sexual tension that is building between us,” Kiki teases over her shoulder.

He lets out an amused hmph and I swear I just saw him smirk. Obviously, he hasn’t realized yet that Kiki gets whatever she wants. She won’t give up until then.

We walk into the marble floored bathroom and I step into one of the stalls while Kiki props herself in front of the mirror to touch up her makeup.

“He is so hot. I can’t believe you get to spend every day with men like that around. You can tell me, have you slept with any of the guards?”

“Kiki! Of course not. Have you already forgotten about Luca? The man I have been in love with since I was like 14?” I say as I step out and walk over to the sink.

“I am just saying, you are wasting an opportunity. Men take on mistresses all the time, why can’t you have a little fun?”

“Because I love him, I don’t want anyone but him.”

“Whatever,” she scrunches her nose up at the word love. It seems to be a pretty foreign concept for her. “Hey, I think you got the wrong restroom bud,” Kiki says looking behind me.

I look up into the mirror to see a dark-haired man standing in the corner of the room dressed in all black. I freeze, my gut tells me he didn’t accidently use the wrong bathroom.

“Run!” I scream to Kiki as he charges towards me.

I see Kiki take off running through the doors, no doubt for help while the man grabs me from behind. I thrash in his arms and scream but his hold on me doesn’t ease up. The man starts dragging me backwards towards the window when the door bursts open. Benjamin and Freddy come in with their guns drawn. That is when the man pulls out a gun of his own and fires off a couple of rounds towards them, using me as a human shield before he points the gun at my head.

“Put them down,” he barks.

I whimper as the searing hot metal burns into the side of my head. He digs it into me further and I look to see Benjamin and Freddy trade a look before they lift their hands in the air and slowly set their guns on the ground. Oh god, this man is going to take me or kill me. I am not sure which I would rather have. Considering the things that I have overheard about the Farelli I think a quick death would be more bearable.

Before Benjamin stands up fully he gets my attention and subtly taps his shoe before glancing at the mans foot. I don’t completely understand what he is trying to say but I think he wants me to cause a distraction. Well, I can damn well try.

I quickly lift my foot off the ground and dig my 6-inch stiletto heel so deep into his foot that it actually gets stuck for a moment before he pushes me to the ground, his screams filling the room. The instant I hit the ground I hear a gunshot and see Benjamin holding his towards the man. I look over my shoulder to see that he shot the man in the shoulder, just barely clipping him but enough to drop him to the floor.

Freddy instantly runs over to him and begins zip tying his hands together while Benjamin gets on the phone and speaks quickly and quietly into his phone. I stand up just as Benjamin hangs up and he rushes to help me. “Are you hurt?”

“No, I-I am okay. He is one of them, isn’t he?” I ask as my voice shakes.

“Yes. We need to get out of here now, Freddy will detain him for now but there could be others.”

He grabs my arm and pulls me out of the bathroom where Kiki is standing there shaking. I latch onto her as Benjamin pulls us down the back entrance. When we step outside Giovanni grabs on to me and shoves me into the waiting car as Kiki and Benjamin get in on the other side. Before I can ask him what he is doing here he shuts the door and takes off running towards the restaurant.

Benjamin drives off quickly and I look over to see Kiki slightly quaking in her seat. I reach over and grab her hand.

“Are you okay hun?” I ask.

“He was going to kill you, wasn’t he?”

“Probably, or he might have taken me back to wherever they are and tortured me.”

She lets out a humorless laugh and shakes her head. “This is unreal. How is this real life? People don’t just try to kill random girls; they don’t try to kidnap them.”

“It isn’t random,” Benjamin interjects.

“He is right,” I confirm. “It goes with the territory of being with one of the most power Mob Bosses in the country.”

“Still,” she huffs. “Are you okay?”

“Weird as it might sound, the second time you are attacked isn’t nearly as traumatic as the first. Maybe I am just thankful I wasn’t shot this time,” I chuckle.

Benjamin gives me a dark look when I say that but I just shrug. Guess he can’t take a joke.

When we get home several men walk up to the car and open my door before escorting us inside. Once I am in the foyer, I look around for Luca but he isn’t among the many people milling about through the house.
