She laughs and shrugs. “It isn’t my fault they are so uptight. That man clearly needs to get laid, and I am more than happy to volunteer for the position.”

“I can hear you,” Benjamin mumbles, while keeping his eyes on the road.

“I was counting on it, Benny,” Kiki says with a saucy wink.

I think I hear Benjamin curse under his breath, but he definitely doesn’t say anything loud enough for us to hear. Kiki doesn’t get that we shouldn’t be trying to piss the men off that are in charge of keeping us alive apparently.

After a quick drive into the city we are elbow deep in elegant formal gowns. I may have resented most of what the world I grew up in had to offer but one of the things that made it all worth it, shopping. I know it is so stereotypical of me to be a rich heiress that loves to shop but there is something so therapeutic about it.

After trying on several dresses, I find an emerald green dress with a beaded bodice that I fall in love with. It has thin straps and a low cut out back that stops just above my ass with a high thigh slit. I feel seductive and powerful in it, which will be perfect when I wear it since I will be on the arm of arguably the most powerful man in the room, at least one of.

“So how is work going?” I ask her once I change back into my clothes and walk the dress over to the counter with the matching shoes I found.

“Same old, same old. It sucks without you. Camila has been extra bitchy lately. I am not sure how your man convinced her to have you work from home but ever since she has been 10 times worse, if that were even possible.”

I roll my eyes as I dig through my purse for my card. “I so look forward to the day when I can fire her.”

Before I can get my card out a black card is handed to the saleswoman from behind me. I turn around to see Benjamin handing it to her and giving me a short nod.

“That isn’t necessary, I have my own money,” I tell him.

“Boss’s orders, Miss.”

I sigh but don’t fight it. If Luca told him to do something there is no point in arguing. I am quickly learning that what he says is law, at least with his men.

The woman hands the card back to Benjamin and the bag over to me and thanks us with a fake smile before we leave.

“Oh yeah I forgot to tell you, Andrew has been by,” Kiki says as we head up to the restaurant.

My eyebrows shoot up. “Andrew Baxter?”

Kiki nods when we are seated. “Yup. He has been sniffing around trying to figure out where you are. I told him you were working from home, but he already went by your house and your father told him you were on vacation in the Bahamas? It sounded like he obviously had no clue about what went down with you and Luca, so I didn’t say anything.”

My brows furrow. “So, my dad has not told him that the deal is off. Maybe Luca is right, and he is still up to something.”

“Maybe, or maybe Andrew was lying trying to get me to slip up some information. He has been stopping by twice a week though.” Her tone is wary, which puts me on edge.

“Huh weird. Well, all I can say is I dodged a major bullet with that one. Well, more like Luca ripped me out of the way of the bullet. Could you imagine me being married to that ass?”

Kiki gets a small glimmer in her eyes. I know that look far too well. “I mean his personality sucks and all but at least he is pretty to look at.”

“Ew, Kiki. Stop. You need to get laid stat. You don’t realize what you are saying.”

“I am hoping Benny Boy can help me with that one,” she says with a large wink.

Benjamin is standing behind us against the wall, but I can tell he heard what she said based on the flush that his cheeks now have.

“You are so ridiculous, leave the poor man alone.”

Kiki’s eyes go over my shoulder to meet his eyes and she gives him a seductive smirk and a wink before looking back at me. “No way, he is way too fine.”

I shake my head as I look over the menu and order a salad. Our lunches come out extremely fast and they seem to be more accommodating than usual. I was pretty well known before, but I think the 2 men in suits following me around tip off that I am someone of importance.

“I’m going to use the restroom before we leave,” I say as I stand up.

“I’ll go with you,” Kiki agrees.

Benjamin immediately starts following us and I shake my head as Kiki turns around.
