“What the Hell is going on?” Van Hynes yells as the guards leave the room.
“Oh, don’t worry about them. They have other duties to attend to,” I answered. “They really don’t need to be here for this.”
“Some type of official needs to be here,” Van Hynes says with a shaky tone as he pulls out his cellphone. Levi casually strolls over and snatches it from his hand. “You can’t do that,” Van Hynes screeches, standing, then reaching for the phone. He quickly falls back into his seat after the frightening growl Levi emits.
Pushing my chair back, I rise and begin pacing.
“Van Hynes, I told you that night you were banned from ever entering my hotel, so when this frivolous lawsuit cameacross your desk, you should have passed it along to one of your colleagues. Instead, you were still but-hurt and feeling humiliated from that night, so you decided to take the case.” I stop and stare at him.
His eyes widened. “But...,”
I cut him off. “No, no. There aren’t buts. Obviously, these two only told you a watered down version of their behavior.” Pointing to the thumb drive, I continue, “I’m sure the damaging footage and audio on there could have me filing my own lawsuit against them, but you’re the fucking idiot. Hell, your retainer fees were probably paid off by blowjobs.”
When the fucker didn’t dispute my claim, I knew it was true.
“Mr. Hillard,” Fonda cries. “If you let my cousin and me leave, I promise you will never hear from us again.”
I move my head from side to side, shaking my finger at her. “I wish I could believe that, Fonda, but I don’t. You and your cousin had the opportunity to let this go and here we are.” Placing my right hand over my heart, I say, “I’m a sympathetic man, and I have been in this position many times before, but never has an individual or individuals ever come back thinking they still had a leg to stand on with bogus allegations.”
“My firm knows that I’m here, so if you do anything to us, they will know,” Van Hynes interjects.
“Not if there is no footage proving that you arrived here,” I throw back before Levi and I attack him while Nyah does the same with Fonda and Hanna. One thing I liked when purchasing this hotel was that the conference rooms and banquet halls were all sound proof to make sure the guests didn’t hear music or loudness of celebrations going on.
Levi could have taken one of the women but instead, left his future sister-in-law to handle them. Blood curdling screams echo around the room as we tear into their flesh. All theyhad to do was walk away, but they chose to come back and unfortunately, it’s costing them their lives.
My mate and I are preparing for an epic war, and we don’t need this kind of nonsense. We are on edge and the littlest thing will set us off. Too bad these three assholes had to be the first to feel our wrath.
When the screams ceased, the conference room looked like the original Prom scene from Carrie. Splatters of blood coated the walls while their bodies lay mauled and disfigured on the floor.
The only thing that heightened my concern was Nyah still gnawing on Fonda’s flesh.
I approached her, then hopped back when red eyes focused on me as the blood of our enemy coated her teeth. This wasn’t Nyah, but her destined wolf.
I let my wolf emerge, showing his yellow eyes, hoping that it would calm her, but she growled more, getting into an attack stance.
Levi grabs my shoulder, pulling me back. “She is in a fit of rage and doesn’t recognize your wolf right now because he is not her destined mate. Pull him in before she attacks the both of you.”
Heeding my Beta’s advice, I internally fight with my wolf to reel him in. The last thing I want is for Nyah and her wolf to attack us, but the one thing I needed to assert to Nyah’s wolf is that I am her mate and Alpha. Although they are Alpha’s as well, I am the dominant one in this relationship, and this was the perfect time for her to find out.
“Nyah,” I say in a commanding voice, letting my Alpha radiance resonate. “Rein in your wolf now.”
Those red eyes bore into me before closing. When they opened again, Nyah’s beautiful brown eyes glared back at me.
“Braxton,” Nyah whispers before getting up, then rushing to my arms.
I wrap my arms around her waist as she buries her face in my chest. Peering to Levi, I instruct, “Clear these bodies out, then have security clean this room from top to bottom. Take the bodies to the Midnight Pack lands. I will call Alpha Lightfeather and explain why they are there. He will know what to do after that.”
“Yes, Alpha.”
“Make sure to get with the surveillance team to erase any footage of the three of them showing up here. Whatever vehicles they drove, get the keys from the valet and move them as far away from the hotel as possible. I have a friend that can put the idiots’ miles away, in different locations.”
Levi chuckles. “Are you talking about the Cajun?”
Smiling, I reply, “Yes, I am.”
