Zar and I thought it would be best to get at Joshua first, to see what all he knew about the shooting. The way he looked at Greg back at Sabre’s house, kind of made us wonder if knows what his little brother is up to.

Next, we were putting eyes on the Santiago Cartel. If what Sebastian said was correct about them wanting to take over our territory, then we wanted to be ready for them. Chicago might be in store for its second fire, only this time, it’ll be the Greek’s that started it.

I was surprised after I called Mother, telling her I was in town, and about Sabre losing the baby, thirty minutes later, one of the guards came to say they were downstairs requesting to come up.

“Xander son, are you two alright?” Mother asks as they come into the room. She hugged me, then hugged Sabre. “I’m so sorry, dear.”

“Thank you,” Sabre whispers back.

“These are for you,” Karisa says, holding a bouquet of flowers with balloons that red Get Well Soon’.”

“Thank you, Karisa,” Sabre states as Mother releases her and Karisa hugged her next.

Mother sits in the chair next to Sabre’s bed. “So, what did the doctor’s say?”

I glance over to Sabre, not sure if she wants me to tell them what happened, but when she nods, I tell them what led up to her losing the baby.

Mother lowers her head, clutching her hands together. Karisa just stared at me with a heated expression.

“And now what?” Mother asks.

I let out a deep breath, then reply, “I’m hoping they will discharge Sabre tomorrow, and if so, I’ll be sending her back to Dallas.”

“Are you serious, Xander?” Karisa gripes. “Why can’t she come stay with us?”

See, this is the shit I don’t have time for. “Because they are looking for her, and I can’t take any chances of her being in or close to the city.”

“But, you know we can...” Karisa starts, but Mother cuts her off.

“It’s fine, Sabre can go back to Dallas...but we will be going back with her.” Her tone was inarguable. Mother had made their decision known.

Well, shit. Whatever ill feelings Mother and Karisa have left with the Kourakos is about to come to a head because I know there’s no way Althaia and GeeGee are not going to be by Sabre’s side once she returns.
