I go to her side, taking the bags out of her hands.

“The nurse was just here with your discharge papers. She’s calling in your prescription for pain meds at the pharmacy in Copper Canyon. So, by the time you get there they will be ready.”

She places her palm on my cheek. “I don’t think they will be necessary. I’m not in any pain right now, but it’s good to know if I should need them, they’ll be there.”

I take her hand, then kiss the inside of her hand. “Then let’s get the hell out of here.”

Once Sabre, Mother, Karisa, Mike, and his men were safely on the jet, we went back to Yiannis’ house. Since Tech had other laptops back in Dallas, he left me the one he brought with him to keep us up to date on what new information he found on the Santiago’s, and Sabre’s brothers. Right now, my main focus was to snatch Joshua up to see what exactly he knew about his little brothers dealings. From their exchange over the phone, it sounded like he had no clue, but you could never be too sure with those two.

Tech stayed in contact with us while they were in the air and was able to pinpoint Joshua’s location. He was sitting in his car outside of a gas station off of one hundred and eleventh and Wentworth. Tech sent the tracking information to my phone, so I was able to keep tabs on Joshua’s movements throughout the day.

By nine o’clock that night, Joshua had been to several locations in the city, I assume making drops and pick-ups. He finally stopped at a house off of one hundred twenty-first and Indiana. Tech sent the address of the house, informing us that it belonged to a woman, Gina Meadows. It must have been his girlfriend’s place because an hour and a half later, he was still there.

Jumping in one of the SUV’s, Balthazar, Alistair, Hendrix, Frankie, and I head to the house with me behind the wheel. As the GPS guides us along the way, my cell phone starts to buzz in my pocket. I pull it out and see that it’s Sabre calling.

“Hey, you,” I greet as Zar looks over at me. I mouth Sabre’s name to him. He nods.

“Hey, I was just calling to check in with you before I went to bed. How are things going up there?” Sabre asks.

I’m not going to tell her we are about to pay her brother an unwelcomed visit, so I reply, “Everything is good. The news has been reporting ADA Bowers as missing with a city wide search going on to find him. This has pushed the Santiago case back. The authorities suspect foul play and has the inmate under maximum security lockdown.”

“This shit is crazy, Xander,” she whispers.

“I know baby, but it’ll all be over soon,” I claim, trying to put her mind at ease. Changing the subject, I question, “So, how are things going? Are the ladies getting along?”

That caused her to let out a deep sigh. “Xander, I don’t know why Balthazar thought it was a good idea for all of us to be in the same house. I mean I know why he wanted it, but surely he must have known your Mother, Karisa, Althaia and GeeGee were going to bump heads.”

I could just about imagine how those four were getting along. Hopefully with them being in close quarters, they will put their differences aside and realize we are family.

“Well don’t let them stress you out, believe me there is always a reason behind Zar’s decisions.”

Hearing his name, Zar glances at me. I smirk at him before focusing back on the road. We’re a few minutes away from the house.

“Sabre, I gotta get going, but remember to take it easy. I’ll call you back later, okay?”

“Okay Xander, but you be careful. Call me when you can,” she says.

“I will,” I tell her before ending the call, then slide the phone back into my pocket.

“What about my decisions,” Zar asks.

I chuckle. “Sabre was saying Mother, Karisa, your Mother, and GeeGee weren’t playing nice. I was telling her you knew what you were doing putting them together.”

He laughs. “Either they will learn to get over the past or we will be returning to my house being destroyed, which I’m not worried about because Nina will not be having any of that shit.”

We all laugh because there is no way Nina would let them tear their house up. Shit, she loved that house so much, she put her home in the city up for sale.

Pulling onto the block where the house is located, our laughter ceases. It was time to put on our game faces. We get a good look at the house as I slowly drive past. Turning off the block, I pull into the alley. Only a few lights from garages were lit. Parking behind a garage with no lights two houses down, I shut off the engine. We check our weapons before getting out.

“How do you want to do this, Xander?” Zar asks, securing his pistols.

Gripping my gun, I reply, “You and I will take the front. Alistair, Hendrix, and Frankie can cover the back.”

“Why do I have to cover the back?” Alistair rushes out, holding both of his guns up in the air.

I look up at the dark sky, then back at him. “Because your crazy ass will shoot him before I have the chance to find out what I need.”

He stares at me before he plasters a crazy smile across his face. “You’re right.”
