“Shut up,” Xander says, using his boot to knock him over.
I walk over to them. “Tsk, tsk, tsk. You’re not in the position to give orders, Judge Shaw.” His jaw drops. “You’re in my courtroom now and if you don’t keep your fucking mouth shut, I’m going to be your judge, jury, and executioner.” Judge Shaw snaps his mouth closed. “Now that’s better.” Staring at the other men sitting next to him, I say, “Listen up gentlemen. This is your lucky night; you get to live to see another day. I’m sure most of you don’t want this to get out to the public, but let me warn you, we have pictures of everything...and I do mean everything. You can thank your friend Trent for all of this. He let us know you would be here tonight,” I lie, placing the blame on Trent. I doubt he will be getting anymore favors from them. “Sit tight and we’ll be out of your hair in just a few minutes.”
They grumble as I turn my back to them, pulling out my cell phone to call Mike.
“You good,” Mike asks, answering.
“Yeah, we’re good but that motherfucker got away, but listen, we found some women and girls in that room you couldn’t access. Some of them look pretty shaken up. What do you recommend we do with them?”
Mike pauses then replies, “Bring them here. Lethal, one of the guys from my unit knows some people who can make sure they’re returned to their families. I’m sure they would rather be reunited with their families right now, than spending hours at a police station.”
“Alright, we’ll get them loaded up. See you in a few.”
Going over to where Alistair and a few of my men are standing with the women, I state, “Load them in the SUV’s.”
“Where are you taking us,” the woman requests.
“Somewhere safe, where you can be reunited with your families,” I inform her. She gives me a skeptical look, but nods, hugging the girl close to her.
Alistair moves closer to her. “You two can ride with us.” He strides over to Beast, then opens the back door.
“Torrance, you and Galen help the other ladies get in the SUV’s,” I command, watching as the woman and the girl climb inside Beast.
Spinning around, I shout, “Let’s ride men!”
“What about us,” Judge Shaw yells.
I smirk as I start to smell the smoke coming out of the back door. “Cars will be sent to pick you up in five minutes. I’m sure you don’t want to be seen walking the streets like this. I wouldn’t try to go back in the building to retrieve your items. The inside of the building is on fire.” The men were given timed small firebombs, courtesy of Mike, to place in each room once they were cleared.
“How do we know what you say is true,” Congressman Sterling shrieks.
I shrug my shoulders. “Whether you do or not, that’s your choice.”
I leave them shouting for us not to leave them. They’ll be alright, if they sit their asses still and wait for the cars. It’ll take some time before the fire makes it to the back of the building.
Chapter 14
Nina
I sat on pins and needles waiting for Balthazar to call and say they were alright. GeeGee and Janae sat peacefully playing a game of Spades like it was any other night. I guess GeeGee was used to Balthazar and the others doing this type of shit, but I wasn’t. Janae being married to Mike, probably was used to hearing his war stories, so this was nothing new to her either. When Zar finally did call, I let out a sigh of relief, but it didn’t last long when he said Trent got away. So, the hunt for him continues.
Zar told me about the women and girls they found at the club. Trent is one sick son of bitch. I’m just happy they were able to save them. There’s no telling what Trent put them through. Balthazar relayed that they were taking the women to Mike’s security company, where they would be turned over to their loved ones. He called back a while later stating that one of the women and a girl didn’t have family to return to and asked if they would come back to the house for the night. Of course, I said yes. Those women and girls had already been through enough.
Finally, I hear the SUV’s pull up in front of the house. I leap from my seat and run to the door, opening it. I rush to Zar, leaping in his arms when he gets out. He laughs as I kiss him all over his face.
“Maybe, I should do this more often,” he teases.
“Whatever,” I giggle.
Alistair opens the back passenger door and a beautiful black woman who looks to be a couple years younger than me and young girl get out.
“Are these the two,” I question, seeing a bruise on her face.
“Yes, they’re sisters, Hailey and Devyn Mills. They’re not from around here and didn’t have a place to go. Zar said you said it would be alright if they stayed with you until they could go back home,” Alistair states, glancing at the woman.
I move out of Zar’s arms, going to them. “Hi, I’m Nina. I’m so sorry for what happened to you guys. Come inside, let me find you something to eat.”
“We don’t want to put you out. We’re grateful for your husband’s hospitality but we don’t want to impose,” Hailey politely responds.
