Fifteen minutes later I was sitting inside of my gray Mercedes-Benz S Class with tinted window, parked next to Nina’s white Lexus LC. I knew her next move would be to leave the club, so she wouldn’t have another run in with me. Now, I’m patiently waiting for to make her sneak attempt to get away and right on cue, the back door to the club opens with Nina stepping out. She scans the area, checking her surroundings before starting to approach her car. Why didn’t she have her security escort her to her car? I press the button to let my window down when she’s close enough.

“Where the hell is your security,” I bark. I startle her, but she surprises me when she points a pistol in my face.

“Don’t need security when I have this and what the fuck, Balthazar?! I could have shot your ass,” Nina warns, never lowering the gun.

Reaching my arm out of the window, I place the tips of my fingers on the nozzle, then push it down. Nina stares at me wildly as I open my car door, then get out.

“Why are you leaving the club so soon,” I quiz, wanting to hear the lame ass excuse she was going to come up with.

“It’s my club and I can leave whenever I want. When you have a good manager, who knows how to do her job, you can do that,” she replies, placing the gun back into her purse.

I lean against my car. “I think you are leaving because of me.”

Nina narrows her eyes at me before rasping, “Nobody’s thinking about you, Balthazar. I felt like leaving early, so I am.”

“Is that right?” I ask, standing tall, then closing the small space between us.

Nina takes a few steps back but runs out of room when her back side touches her car. “Yeah, that’s right,” she breathlessly lies.

Her breath hitches when I lean down to her ear and whisper, “You and I both know that’s bullshit. I don’t like being lied to, Nina, so I suggest you end this shit right now. Tell me the real reason you are leaving and remember I hate repeating myself, so I’m not going to ask you again.”

Nina closes her eyes as she lets out a deep breath. “You, I was leaving because of you, alright?”

I smirk. “See how simple that was? Now tell me, Nina, why were you leaving because of me?”

Nina glares at me. “Why are you doing this? How long has it been since the last time I saw you? We live in the same city and our paths have never crossed. I used to hope one day they would, but it never happened. After that mind blowing night in your office, where we not only gave into our carnal desires for one another, I thought I felt something deeper than that click between us. I wanted you to come to me and tell me that one night was not enough, but when the days turned into weeks, then months, I finally came to realize that one night was all you really had to offer. I’ve moved on with my life, just like I’m sure you have.”

Damn, I hate to hear she waited on me to come for her. If I could have, I would’ve but shit was too hot back then.

I grip her hips, pulling her close to me. “I’m here now, Nina.”

“Yeah, three years too late. Like I said, I’ve moved on with my life. If you will excuse me, I have a sudden headache and would like to go home,” she countered, moving from my touch.

Nina presses the key fob unlocking her door. I wrap my arm around her waist and draw her to me when she turns to open the door.

“This conversation is far from over, Nina. I will be in touch,” I express before kissing the side of her head, then hesitantly let her go. I step back giving her room to open the door, then get in. Nina keeps her eyes forward when I grab the seat belt, slide it across her chest, then secure it into place.

“Drive safe,” I tell her before closing her door. Nina starts the engine, then pulls off. Looks like I have my work cut out for me in trying to convince her she belongs to me, but it’s no biggie. I’m always up for a challenge.

I already knew Nina’s address like the back of my hand, so like I used to do when she left the club I trailed her home. Thirty minutes later she pulled up into the driveway of her residential home. What I wasn’t prepared for was the guy who was parked in front of her house, sitting in a Corvette to be there waiting on her. When I saw the occupant of the vehicle get out, I knew this was going to start some shit. I parked my car two houses down from hers, making sure I had my weapon secured on me, and the safety off. As I walked up, I heard him speaking to her.

“I was working when you called me, Nina, but for you, you know I am always make time.”

“Thank you, Trent. It has been an eventful night, and I just want to push it from my mind. I know you are the person to do that for me,” Nina tells him as she gives him a hug.

“You know, I’m always here to service you after a stressful day,” he teases, palming her ass.

The same fire and rage from when I witnessed Chris put his hands on her burns through me. I unholster my gun as I walk up on them.

“Luckily for you, your services are no longer needed,” I surprise them, wishing the asshole would get antsy and make the wrong move.

“Balthazar, what are you doing,” Nina questions with a look of surprise.

Never taking my eyes off of Mr. Smooth, I reply, “No the question is, what the fuck are you doing? You leave me and think that it’s okay to call the next motherfucker to pound your pussy, all the while wishing it was me? Yeah, that’s not going to happen.”

The guy Trent, grandson of the head of the Ganino’s family, move his eyes to her and asks, “Nina, who is this crazy asshole who clearly has a death wish waving a gun at us? Do you know who the fuck I am?”

“No gun waving over here. I only have my aim set on you. Keep asking dumb questions and you’ll find out just how accurate my aim is,” I threaten. My finger itching to pull the trigger.
