I smirked. “I’ll make us something nice once we get home,” I promised.

If it were up to her, chips and fast food’s all she would eat for the rest of her life.

I should start keeping track of how much crap she ate to make sure she wouldn’t become diabetic, because the amount of sugar and no vitamins that girl pumped into her stomach was insane.

I should also stop buying her the unhealthy stuff.

But whenever I cooked, I made sure to include lots of veggies, and I sometimes even got her to eat fruits as dessert.

We arrived home and we immediately headed inside to take off our coats and hats and change into something more comfortable.

Juno

Jealousy wasn’t even in my vocabulary, but seeing him talk to Olivia awakened something inside of me.

It bothered me.

But why?

Ezra was mine, and Olivia is in his past.

Besides, I didn’t mind them still being able to talk to each other, but seeing them talk just…ugh!

I was cuddled up on the couch with Ezra, both holding a cup of tea in hand and watching the documentary about children who were found years after their disappearance.

Instead of talking about our theories of how and why they disappeared like we usually did, we kept quiet.

Ezra’s fingers were wrapped around a strand of my hair, playing with it gently.

For some stupid reason, I thought bringing Olivia back up was a good idea.

“Does Olivia still have a boyfriend?”

“I’m not sure. She didn’t mention anyone when I talked to her. Why?”

I shrugged, looking up at him. “Just wondering.”

He turned his head to look at me, and with a raised brow, he studied my face. “You’re not having trust issues, are you?”

“Of course not. I just…it’s weird seeing you talk to a woman you once loved.”

His eyes wandered all over my face, then he relaxed and sighed, placing his hand on my cheek.

“I can’t ignore her when I pass her in the street, sweetheart. You know I love you, and you’re the only one for me. Hell, I lost my fucking teaching license because of you, and I don’t regret it one bit. It’s you, Juno. Now, and forever.”

His words made sense.

Not because they were what I wanted to hear, but because they were honest and real.

He meant every single word, and to show him that I loved him back, I had to stop assuming things.

“I love you too,” I whispered. “I’m sorry for acting this way.”

Ezra smiled at me and shook his head before he leaned in and kissed my cheek. “It’s cute, if I’m honest. But I hope you keep those words I said with you in your heart at all times.”

I nodded slowly and bit my bottom lip. “I will if you get up and get the chips from the kitchen,” I teased.

“You’re unbelievable,” he muttered, chuckling and kissing my lips.
