I kissed him back and grinned into the kiss, then he moved back and shook his head at me.
“You’re lucky I get your humor. Other men would be annoyed with you by now,” he joked.
“No, they would’ve been annoyed with me the second they met me.”
He let out a laugh and got up from the couch to head to the kitchen.
I’ve been told before that I was annoying, or that my humor was.
But those were bitter people, not able to laugh at simple jokes.
They took life too seriously, which I was glad Ezra didn’t.
He was the one who I needed to get along with, and our chemistry had been strong since the day we sat next to each other on the ferry.
Ezra
I watched as Juno stood by the railing, leaning forward with her eyes closed and letting the cool air flow through her long hair.
It’s been a while since we came back, and seeing Juno happy and relaxed on the ferry was all I needed at this point.
I was leaning against the railing next to her, with my hands pushed into my pockets and my eyes on her, enjoying my view while she enjoyed hers.
It was cold out, but the fairly to the island transported passengers back and forth all year long.
A sweet sigh escaped Juno, and I smiled as she looked up at me with glowing eyes.
“Today’s gonna be amazing,” she said, moving closer to me and wrapping her arms around my waist.
She leaned her head against my chest, and I pulled her closer with my arms around her.
I kissed the top of her head which was covered in a beanie, then placed one glove covered hand at her neck.
“It would be even better if it were snowing,” she added.
“It might snow later today. We have all day,” I told her.
We’d have to leave at four-thirty, which was the last time the ferry would pick people up to get them to the mainland.
“I missed this so much. We should come here at least once a week.”
I chuckled and looked straight ahead to watch the small waves caused by the ferry in the water.
“You sure we have time to drive over an hour two times a day every week? Going on a walk is all we do there anyway,” I mocked.
“Hey, that’s time I really appreciate spending with you. And if we’d have a dog, I’m sure you’d have more fun coming here with me.”
Her grin made me laugh, and I cupped her face with both hands to look into her eyes. “I have fun with you. With or without a dog. I’m afraid that if we get a dog, he’ll get more attention than I do.”
She rolled her eyes, keeping that grin in place. “Of course you’d still be my number one,” she said, standing on her tiptoes to kiss me.
Her lips were cold, but so were mine, and as they moved against each other, they slowly started to warm up.
I’d rather sit on the couch cuddled up with her instead of walking in the cold, but if this is what she wanted to do I couldn’t say no.
My tongue brushed along her bottom lip, and she let me in by parting her lips.
Her arms were still wrapped tightly around my waist, and I smiled into the kiss as she clung to my coat, not wanting to let me go.
