I trusted her blindly, and she never failed to show me just how much she wanted me. And how much she loved me.

Behind all that naughtiness and sarcasm, there was a sweet and attentive young woman.

I adored everything about her, so why the fuck was I holding back on giving her the one thing she has ever asked me for?

Christ…I really had to start getting used to the thought of a dog in my home.

“Do you think we can invite one more person to our Christmas dinner?” Juno asked.

I turned to look at her when I was fully dressed, then I walked over to the side of the bed she was sitting on.

“Who would that be?” I asked, placing my hand at the top of her head and running my fingers through her beautiful hair.

Since our vacation in the summer, her red hair turned darker because of the lack of sun it was getting, and her freckles were slowly disappearing as well.

“Pixie. She just texted me that she’s back home from Florida.”

“Yeah, of course. Might need to get another chair though,” I told her.

“Awesome!” she said with a grin.

I leaned in to kiss her head, then I walked over to the bathroom.

“I’ll be done in ten. Decide where you wanna eat in the meantime.”

Surprisingly, we didn’t end up at a fast food restaurant.

Juno chose an Italian one instead, and now we were sitting at a table, waiting for our food to come.

I reached over the table to grab her hand, and by squeezing it gently, I made her look at me.

“Hmm?”

“You’re frowning,” I told her. “I hope I’m not the reason why.”

She smiled and the frown faded, then she shook her head. “I was just thinking about something. Do you remember that guy I told you about? The new student who started one of my classes with me last summer?”

I nodded.

I even remembered his name. “Jonah,” I said.

“Yeah. He’s sitting over there with his girlfriend, but the last time he talked about her he said he didn’t love her anymore. Why can’t men just be honest and let go instead of dragging their girls with them until they realize that they’re not wanted?”

I puckered my lips but didn’t look behind me.

Didn’t want to stare.

“Maybe it’s a different girl,” I suggested.

“No, it’s her. He introduced me to her before,” she explained.

“Then maybe he changed his mind. Why don’t you move those pretty eyes to me instead of staring at a couple that is none of our business?” I asked, smirking.

Juno sighed and let that deep crease between her brows appear again, but only for a second.

“I’m sorry. I guess I shouldn’t be all up in other people’s business. How was your day?” She smiled.
