“It was fun. One of the kids wasn’t feeling well this morning while we practiced one last time before the concert, but I got a call from his mother that he’ll be with us tonight.”
“Too nervous?”
“Probably. He’s a shy kid, and big crowds are scary when you’re only six. But his band mates are supportive of him, which encourages him.”
“That’s so sweet. You know, I think it’s a great way of preparing you to be a dad,” she told me with a mischievous smile on her lips.
“I’m not ready to be a dad, Juno. I never even changed a damn diaper.”
“You’ll learn. You know what’s really helpful for couples who wanna become parents but aren’t ready yet?”
“What’s that?” I asked, raising a brow but knowing exactly where this was going.
“A pet. Preferably a dog. I don’t care what breed.”
I chuckled, then leaned in my chair and studied her face. “You’re not going to give up on that, huh?”
“Not until I have a cute little fluffball in my arms,” she said with a grin.
She wouldn’t bother me by nagging me about getting a dog…I just wished I wouldn’t have to disappoint her.
Juno
The concert was amazing, but I couldn’t stop thinking about having Ezra to myself again.
After patiently standing next to him while he talked to some of the kids’ parents, he finally grabbed my hand and smiled, telling me that we could go home.
I couldn’t get there fast enough, and the second we stepped into our apartment, I started to take off his clothes.
A low chuckle escaped his chest, and with an amused grin, he watched me as I struggled with his belt.
“What happened to taking it slow?” he asked, watching me as I kept trying to get his belt off.
“I’ve been waiting for too long, Ez. I need you,” I told him.
After a little while, he grabbed both my hands and pulled them up, making me look into his eyes.
His face was close to mine, and his eyes were serious. “We have all the time in the world, Juno. No need to rush,” he whispered.
I felt my body relax.
“Okay,” I whispered back, freeing my hands from his grip and licking my lips before leaning closer to kiss him softly.
There really was no need to rush things, especially now that we didn’t have to work and go to school.
I guess I was just excited to spend every minute of the day with him.
Sometimes, and even after more than one year of dating, knowing he was mine excited me so much that I forgot I didn’t have to impress him anymore.
He was mine, and I was his, and I had to get that into my brain.
Ezra’s hands moved to my waist, and I pushed my own into his hair where I always wanted them to be.
His kiss was gentle, but I knew that would change once we got into bed.
Our wild side came out right there, and my heart started beating louder with every second that passed.
Our tongues met, and while they gently danced with each other, we started to walk toward the bed until I hit the mattress with the backs of my legs.
