It’s been a whole year since I moved in with Ezra in his new apartment near Lakewood college.

It was one of the best decisions I had ever made because there was nothing better than waking up in the morning and having his arms around me after falling asleep together the night before.

Our relationship didn’t change, but the love we felt for each other only grew stronger.

I couldn’t imagine a life without Ezra.

Not after everything we’ve been through.

He showed me that he wanted me even after losing his license to teach high schoolers because of me.

If it weren’t for those stupid videos Pixie saw that day, we would’ve made it until I graduated and no one would’ve found out that we dated while I was still his student.

I guess the universe didn’t want it to end that way, but in all honesty…I didn’t think we’d be where we were right now if all those things didn’t happen.

It sounded harsh, but if he wouldn’t have lost his job, we might’ve never moved here.

And we might’ve never understood how strong our bond to each other was.

Ezra was the man I wanted to marry someday, and despite our age difference, we both still had time to get there.

My second year of college started off great, but just like any student, I didn’t want to think about it now that we were on Christmas break.

I was standing in front of my garment rack where all my sweaters hung, and I looked through them all to find the perfect one to wear tonight.

Ezra started a band with a few of his students that were playing tonight at a Christmas concert, and Ezra invited me to go with him.

I loved everything he did for those kids.

Most of their parents didn’t have enough money to buy them instruments, so Ezra went ahead and bought a few so the kids could practice with those and take their lessons.

The kids playing tonight were young, all around six or seven years old, but I heard them play before when I visited their band practice, and they sounded incredible.

I moved my gaze to the bed where I had already laid out my black pants, but they weren’t very helpful since all of my sweaters would fit with them.

My eyes shifted to the small teddy bear in the middle of our pillows, and a smile spread across my face.

Ezra had given me that teddy bear on my birthday, and it was special because it had agrandpa sweateron, as he would call them.

I loved it, and turning back around, I grabbed the dark brown wool sweater with a fun dark red and green pattern all over.

That’s appropriate for Christmas, I thought.

I put the sweater on the bed and walked back into the bathroom to get rid of my robe.

I had already dried my hair and done my makeup, so the only thing that was left to do was get dressed.

Once I was ready, I checked the time on my phone, and as punctual as ever, Ezra walked into our apartment as the clock struck five.

I smiled and walked over to him while he shook off the snow on his shoulders, then took off his coat.

“Hi,” I greeted, leaning sideways against the exposed brick wall in our living room.

He had a smug grin on his face, and once the coat was off, he walked over to me. “I was hoping you’d still be in the shower when I came back.”

I laughed softly and let him pull me closer to him with his hand on my waist.
