Chapter Twelve

Brynn

KNOWING KINGSTON WASheading to talk to my family about what’s been going on with me has me more nervous and scared than anything with this fucking stalker. I’ve kept it from everyone I love because I know they’ll lose their shit and destroy everything in their path to get to the person behind this. Especially my dad. While he might not show his emotions very often, I do know my dad loves me. No matter what’s gone on over the years or how I’ve felt about things, he’s always been there when I’ve gone to him about something bothering me. Most of the time it was something insignificant, but there were a few times I bawled my eyes out to him over something and he held me until I felt better and then gave me the best advice he could given the circumstances of whatever I was going through at the time. There is nothing my dad, uncle, grandpa, and the rest of the members in the club wouldn’t do for me. I should really apologize to everyone because they have been there for me growing up.

I’m sitting on Kingston’s bed when a knock sounds on the door.

“Come in,” I call out, not sure who’d be coming to Kingston’s room.

When the door opens, Hope pops her head inside and gives me a smile. She enters her cousin’s room and closes it behind her.

“How are you doing?” she asks me, her voice full of hesitation because neither one of us know the other and she doesn’t know what’s going on with me.

“I’ve been better. Kingston says he’s gonna take care of my situation, but I don’t want him to be dragged into this,” I tell her honestly as she sits down next to me.

“What’s going on, Brynn?” she questions me, her face full of concern.

“I have a stalker. He’s been leaving notes, pictures, and other stuff on my porch since shortly after I moved here. It’s been getting worse and now there are pictures of Kingston included. The last note I got with those photos was the most threatening I’ve ever received up to this point. And Kingston’s face was scratched out and there were holes in the picture by where his heart is,” I tell Hope honestly, not sure why I’m divulging this information so easily.

“Shit,” she breathes out, her voice a whisper. “That’s a lot to keep to yourself. Does your family know?”

“No. Um, Kingston is the only one who knows this, so please keep it to yourself,” I say, looking at Hope as she eagerly nods in response. “Blood is my grandpa. Scathe is my dad and Ace is my uncle. They’re members of King’s Vengeance MC. Well, Blood is the President and one of the men who started the club. I grew up there.”

“Holy shit! They were on the run for Kington after his crash. That’s a scary fucking club. I can see why you didn’t tell them. It’s hard to tell family about something this bad if they don’t belong to a club. Knowing your family is not only in a club, but they’re as notorious as Blood, I can’t even imagine telling them something like this,” Hope says, turning to look at me better. “My dad is Killer. I don’t know if you’ve ever heard of him, but he’s almost as notorious as your grandpa is.”

“I haven’t heard of him at all. It doesn’t mean anything though. If your club is anything like my grandpa’s, girls are kept out of everything. I don’t know anything my male family members do at any given time. All I know is they go on runs and sometimes have to go to war when a rival takes things too far,” I state, my voice barely above a whisper because you never know who’s listening in on private conversations.

“It’s the same with my dad’s club. The only thing I know is that he’s an officer of the club and I’m related to Kingston because my mom is his mom’s sister. My uncle is Fox and that’s where Kingston got his talent from. I’ll let him tell you about that though. So, can I get you something to eat or drink? Maybe you want to come hang out in the common room for a little while?” Hope asks me her voice hesitant as she looks around her cousin’s room.

“Will it be okay if I go to the common room? I know Kingston knows who I am and I’m pretty sure Jinx does. Vault was given the bare minimum details. I wasn’t really paying attention when they were talking because my mind keeps spiraling down paths I’d rather not think about. While I know the basic rules of being in a clubhouse, each club has their own set of rules to abide by,” I ask Hope as she stands from the bed.

“I don’t think it will be a problem. Vault will say something if he doesn’t want you out of Kingston’s room. He’s not very subtle about things and you know where you stand with him immediately,” Hope assures me as I stand next to her and we leave the room.

“I can’t lock Kingston’s door. I don’t have a key to get back in. Is that going to be okay?”

“It will be fine. No one comes in his room for any reason. I can tell you now the Phantoms don’t even come in here. They call the club girls Phantoms here, just so you know. Kingston is very particular about who he fucks and none of the women here have been with him,” Hope tells me, letting me in her cousin’s life a little bit more than he has so far.

I follow Hope out of Kingston’s room and down the hallway toward the stairs. Looking down over them, I see the common room full of people. There’s a table of women sitting off to the side and I have a feeling that’s where Hope is gonna lead me. The one thing I do know is that ol’ ladies tend to stick together and they have their own sort of club. While they will always support their men and everything they do, they do their own thing and are the backbone of the club. All the runs, cookouts, parties, and so much more are planned by the ol’ ladies.

I’m right. Hope leads me to the table of women, but I can feel eyes on me from everyone else in the common room.

“I’m only gonna do this once. After the introduction, it’s up to each of you to meet Brynn on your own,” Hope announces to the room and I turn my attention to the Phantoms. They’re all giving me an evil glare and I get it. “Brynn, this is Savannah, Annabell, Alana, and Genesis. Everyone but Alana is an ol’ lady. Alana is Cage, Skyler, and Joker’s daughter. They’re members of the mother chapter of the Wild Kings and she’s visiting right now. The Wild Kings and Phantom Bastards clubs are tied by blood. Everyone else in the room is a member or Prospect. You don’t need to worry about the Phantoms. You either deal with a situation with them yourself or you get one of us. Though I would like to introduce you to Vault. Brynn, this is Vault, the President of the club.”

I turn to face the man standing behind Annabell. He gives me a nod and I know that’s all I’m gonna get. Vault reminds me so much of my dad and uncle and he’s probably half their age.

“Thank you for letting me stay here while Kingston’s gone,” I say, knowing I have to show respect to the President of the club while I’m in his clubhouse.

“Don’t gotta thank me for anythin’,” Vault says, a small smile on his face. “Not gonna let you leave here on your own knowin’ who your family is. I happen to like my face and certain body parts exactly where they are and won’t risk them bein’ taken from me if you even get a papercut while you’re here. And I know my words would be the light end of any punishment they want to dole out. You’re more than welcome here, Brynn.”

Hope gives me a small smile before pulling out a chair for me to sit in. I drop down next to Alana and smile at her.

“So, why does she get to be in Kingston’s room when no one’s allowed in there?” one of the Phantoms asks as I look over to where they’re sitting on the couch.

“Morgan, that’s none of your business. We give you a little more respect because you’re more of a house mouse than a Phantom. Don’t think we don’t know about the obsession you have with King. Everyone here knows. He won’teverbe yours. Brynn is his guest and you’ll be respectful of her while she’s here. Because even if King doesn’t do anythin’ about you talkin’ shit to her, her family will. They’re a club you donotwant to fuck with,” Vault states, his voice hard and cold as he turns to glare at the woman who spoke up. “King doesn’t allow anyone in his room and everyone here knows that. Brynn and Hope are the only two who will enter. If I hear of anyone else bein’ in there, you’ll be out bad and I won’t think twice about that shit. We’ve had more than our fair share of trouble from you women and I’m fuckin’ over it. The only reason any of you are still here is because of the single guys. If it were up to me, you’d all be out.”
