“Promise me you’ll be careful.”
“I always am.” I smiled. “I need to do some laundry and repack.”
CHAPTER 6
Roman
Grabbing my briefcase, I headed to Harrison’s Tap & Tavern, a bar my father purchased a few years ago down the street from the firm.
“Evening, Roman.” Bart, the manager, smiled.
“Evening, Bart.” I walked over to our family table and set my briefcase down.
“Scotch?” Bart asked.
“Three doubles. My brothers will be here soon.”
“Coming right up.”
I glanced at the door and saw my brothers walk in. They were in court all day, so I didn’t get to tell them about Morgan.
“How did it go in court?” I asked as they sat down.
“I swept the floor with that ADA.” Julian grinned.
“I won my case.” Parker smiled.
Bart walked over and set our drinks down. Grabbing mine, I held up my glass.
“To The Hamilton Group.” A smile crossed my lips.
“The Hamilton Group.” Both of my brothers grinned, clanking their glasses against mine.
“There’s something I need to tell you,” I said, sipping my scotch. “I’m flying Morgan Ashley out here tomorrow.”
“Why?” Parker’s brows furrowed.
“I need her for the Williamson case.”
“You mean you need to fuck her again.” Julian pointed at me.
“That too.” A smirk crossed my lips. “But in all seriousness, we need to find anything that proves our client is innocent.”
“Isn’t that the pro-bono we took?” Parker asked.
“Yes, and I have more important cases to work on right now—ones that pay a lot of money.”
“So, am I understanding this right?” Julian asked. “The firm is paying Morgan to fly out here to help with a pro-bono case? Are you crazy, bro?”
“Why don’t you have one of the associates handle the case?” Parker asked. “You know we only hire the best.”
“Because I don’t lose, and the little bit of research I did, I can’t find anything that proves he’s innocent. If there’s anything out there, Morgan will find it.” I finished my drink.
Julian sat across from me, narrowing his eyes. “That’s a hefty price to pay for sex. You better be putting her up in a cheap hotel.”
“The only way she’d come here was if I reserved her a suite no smaller than 1250 square feet at the Four Seasons and flew her first class. Besides, if I had my way, she’d be staying at my place until the case was over.” I reached over and grabbed Parker’s drink.
“Hey.” His brows furrowed.
