“You’re still here?” she asked, walking into the bedroom with a towel wrapped around her.
“I couldn’t leave without saying goodbye. My brother texted me and said we’re on the ten a.m. flight back to Los Angeles.”
“Then I guess you better get dressed, return to your room, and get some sleep.”
I slipped on my clothes while she put on a nightshirt and towel-dried her hair.
“Thank you for tonight.” I grabbed my watch from the nightstand and put it on.
“Thank you.” She smiled. “It was fun.”
“That it was, but I’m not just talking about sex. Thank you for illegally getting me those bank records.” I smirked. “Now, we’ll be one step ahead of the district attorney.”
“You’re welcome.” She walked me to the door. “Have a safe flight home.”
“Enjoy the rest of your trip.” I leaned in and softly brushed my lips against hers.
“I will. Bye.” She opened the door and practically pushed me out.
I went back to my room and tried to get some sleep, but I couldn’t.
The following morning, I met my brothers bright and early in the lobby.
“Details. Now,” Julian said.
“Yeah, bro.” Parker hooked his arm around me. “How was it last night?”
“It was really good. She definitely exceeded my expectations.”
“Good to hear.” Parker patted my back as we climbed into the back of the taxi.
I was in deep thought about Morgan when Julian snapped his fingers in my face.
“What did you say?” I glanced at him.
“I didn’t say anything. You’ve been in a daze since we left the hotel. What is going on with you?”
“He’s still thinking about Morgan.” Parker grinned.
“No, I’m not.” I furrowed my brows. “I’m thinking about the case and how the judge and his vacation fucked us.”
“Bro, Morgan got us what we needed for a head start. Everything will be fine,” Julian said.
“I hope so.” I sighed.
CHAPTER 5
Morgan
“Welcome home.” My Uncle Louie smiled when I stepped inside his apartment. “How was your vacation?”
“Did you forget that I was there for work?”
“No. But I'd still consider it a vacation if I were sent to work there.” He stood up from his chair and walked over to the fridge.
“It was beautiful, and I had a good time.” I smiled. “But I’m not happy about returning to the cold weather. I’m going to take my suitcase to my room.”
After I finished unpacking, I grabbed my purse. “I’m meeting Harlow at Tavern on the Green. I’ll see you later.”
