He took me on a tour of the resort before taking me to my room. When we entered the elevator, he pushed the button labeled P.
“What does the P stand for?” I asked.
“Penthouse floor.”
“Excuse me? Penthouse?”
“Yes. You reserved the one-bedroom penthouse.”
“Ah, yes. That’s right.” I smiled. “Damn, Harlow. You really know how to do it up,” I whispered.
“Excuse me? Did you say something?” Renaldo asked.
“I can’t wait to see it.”
He held the keycard up to the door and unlocked it. He set my suitcase in the bedroom while my eyes scanned the overly large suite with a panoramic view of the ocean.
“Wow. This is amazing.”
“It is, isn’t it?” Renaldo smiled. “Over here,” he pointed to the table, “is a welcome gift, and a complimentary bottle of champagne is in the refrigerator. I’ve also reserved cabana number eight for the week at our primary pool.”
“My own cabana?” I grinned.
“Yes. Is there anything else you need?”
“No. I think I’m good.” I reached into my purse and pulled out some cash.
“Thank you, Miss Ashley. I’ll be checking on you throughout the week. Please let me know if there’s anything you need.”
“I will, Renaldo. Thank you.”
He nodded as he opened the door and left. Pulling my phone from my purse, I called Harlow.
“I take it you landed?” she answered.
“Yes. I just got to my room. Wow, Harlow. The Penthouse?”
“I put it on Rick’s credit card, so live it up while you’re down there. Do not, and I mean do not spare any expense. I know it’s expensive, but I want you to be comfortable and order anything you want at the hotel. Go to the gift shop and buy some souvenirs. Just get me what I sent you there for, Morgan.”
“Don’t worry. I will.”
“I have to go. You do realize this is an international call, right?” she said.
“I know. I just wanted to let you know that I’m here.”
I went into the bedroom, took my laptop from my carry-on bag, and opened it. With a few clicks of the keys, I was in the hotel’s system.
“Which room are you staying in, Rick?” I said to myself.
Found him. Ah, room 2503. He was in the suite across from mine.
CHAPTER 2
Morgan
I grabbed a bottle of water from the refrigerator and threw it into my bag. I heard voices and an open door in the hallway. Leaving my room, I walked a few steps to the elevator and stared at the man with his arm around a lovely young blonde woman. It was him.
“Hi.” He smiled as we waited for the elevator.
