ThreeMonthsLater
That's a wrap. Thank God!
I push away from my desk and stretch my arms over my head. I have to fly to Italy tonight to meet a potential client this week. Lexi has been working too hard lately, and I want to surprise her with a trip.
I already squared everything away with the rest of the gang.
She has no idea she is coming with me tonight.
I did promise her I'd bring her to Italy with me one of these days.
Her mom is finally starting to turn a corner with her physical therapy. She is walking with a cane now.
The night I admitted that I've been secretly paying the bills was interesting. She was upset for a while, until I distracted her by going down on her for an hour.
She eventually gave in. It's what's best for her mom, and we are seeing the results. I think once I pointed out how good her mom was doing, she knew what the right thing to do was.
We've had a great time putting together the Chicago office. She already has the Cleveland IT employee trained, and he's working out great.
We've spent our lunch breaks exploring the city and finding the best places to eat. I really can't imagine a better life.
It all got me thinking.
We're already living together. We're not getting any younger. Her mom still has some of her memory left.
We should get married.
I have the ring tucked safely away in my jacket pocket. I plan to propose when we are in Italy.
My family already knows and are one-hundred percent on board. Everybody is anxiously waiting for pictures.
"Hey," Lexi says, strolling into my office.
She walks around my desk and plops into my lap, wrapping her arms around my neck. Her lips meet mine with a quick and gentle kiss.
"I wanted to say goodbye before you head out. What time do you have to leave?"
I look down at my watch. "Right now."
She gives a little pouty face. "I'm gonna miss you."
I smirk at her. "What if I told you I had a surprise for you?"
"Oooh, what is it? Sex on your desk before you leave?" she says with a smile.
Yeah, we're the only two people in the office. We've fucked on every damn surface of this place. It's been quite an eventful three months.
A deep laugh escapes. "I could do that too. First, why don't you go take a look in my closet."
Her eyebrow raises in suspicion. "You want me to go open your closet? Is something going to pop out at me?"
"Just go, babe."
She climbs off of my lap. "Ugh, fine."
I watch her with a grin on my face as she walks over to the corner of my office. She opens the door, and pauses while she looks up and down. The moment she notices, she turns to me.
"What's my suitcase doing in here with yours?" she asks.
