Mina told me she isn’t out much, only when the heiress asks her to accompany her. All of her time is spent in the castle so there is no way for anyone to have developed the balls to ask for marriage on a girl who probably doesn’t know them.
I’m different. It’s love at first sight, as fucking cringy as it sounds, but I know Mina is the one I have been missing my whole life. She’s my other half and she completes me in ways that I know I’m much stronger with her by my side.
“Who sent it,” I demand, anger seeping out of my impatient tone.
“A colonel from the North, Peter Phillips.”
I have no trouble with the North as they keep to themselves, rarely interacting with the other countries as they have their own traditional culture that doesn’t touch the mainstream norms of the modern world. Overall, they are more than old-schooled in many aspects, and they usually don’t allow many visitors unless it is a united meeting of leaders.
“What’s his basis of the proposal?” I set my chin on my knuckles as my ears hone in on Mina’s little shuffles.
“Nothing, he just wants to marry Mina.” the heiress drops the envelope down on her desk and sighs.
She continues, “I don't know what it is, but something is not right, not a soul of the North has stepped foot in Ennis. Unless some snooty prince saw her at the ball, that I can't say for sure since they didn’t exactly have name tags, and everyone looks the same after a while.”
I’m going to have the man’s information on my desk by the end of the day, then I will decide the best course of action to deal with the issue. Our wedding shouldn’t be postponed by some irrelevant man who thinks he has a chance with my Mina, and I certainly wouldn’t want our marriage to start off with bloodshed.
“The Ennis family no longer have guardianship over Mina, you leave this matter to me and send the letter back.” I shift in my chair.
The woman snorts, rolling her eyes. “Yes, you brute, everyone knows. But she is still part of my family, you can’t be unreasonable as to keep her to yourself.”
Mina would be so upset if she were to have no outside contact, this woman is close to my little girl, so I will set aside my possessiveness to let her be a friend to Mina. Women or men, Mina should only need me to keep her happy.
“I found it!” a happy exclaim shouts from the bedroom with Mina running out.
The book in her hands is worn, she probably has read this story millions of times as the pages are frayed and old. Mina slides back into my lap, a natural instinct to be close to me can be taken from her subconscious actions.
Mina pushes the book to the camera on the screen and grins with her ass bouncing on my cock. I swallow a groan, splaying my fingers over the curve of her waist to stop her naughty moves, she wiggles more merrily and giggles.
“Why do you need the book?” she asks, unaware of the conversation that had gone down.
“Well, you know me. I’m always trying something new and I remember that book have some good scenes where I can reenact.” the heiress cocks a smirk, leaning her knuckle on her cheek.
Mina laughs, “You’re not a history buff, and this isn’t the revolutionary war.”
“Anything can be reenacted with the right incentives.”
Black hair falling over her shoulders, the tips dragging on my forearm as she leans back to my chest with a thoughtful hum.
“I have an hour of horseback riding, I’ll see you later?” the heiress touches the screen.
My foolish little girl fans her fingers over hers, “Love you,”
It irks me to hear her declare her love to someone else, but I remind myself that this is someone she had grown up with and there is no reason for me to feel territorial over the confession. The love between Mina and I go beyond familial, and that smug woman won’t get more than that.
“Je t’aime.”
I shoot the woman a glare, her showoff makes my little girl giggle and I’m feeling a bit competitive.
I close the communication window, rubbing small circles on Mina’s hip as she touches the book fondly.
“Mom loved this book,” she starts, she could be talking to herself, but I listen closely.
“The Queen said that this book is mom’s greatest treasure and that I would also love it because it teaches me things that I won’t ever understand just by being in the real world.”
I bury my nose in her hair, silently bathing in her soft voice when I feel her press back firmly on my chest to search for the warmth that I emit.
“Maybe I’m wrong but following the voice in your head can be a good thing.” she nods.
