I asked, “How many humans are missing?” Cameron winced, “A lot had stillbirths. Others, Alpha Eric suspects were partials themselves, are missing presumed dead.” I closed my eyes, “They took the pups from the humans and claimed they died. Christ. What have we stumbled onto?” Cameron said, “Sick fucks.” I groaned, “Those pups will be partials then.”

Cameron said, “I’ll be getting the code for their files. Then I’ll know what kind of partial they believe the pup is. Then they die.” I offered, “I’m here if you need help, brother.” Cameron nodded, “I know. They aren’t going to be hard to crack. They just did it for the money. They aren’t fanatics of the ring, just traffickers and profiteers.” I growled, “Don’t give them a quick death then.” Cameron smirked, “I have no plans to do anything of the kind.” He left.

The pack doctor linked, “Denise is dead.” I replied, “Dispose of the body. Thank you for staying with her.” He replied, “No problem, Alpha.” Matt put files on my desk. We went through Pack disputes and time flew by.

A Pack member named CeCe knocked on my door. Her cheeks burned, “Alpha.” I greeted, “Yes, CeCe.” She had just turned eighteen and found her mate, John, in our pack.” She said, “I spoke to the Luna a little bit ago, but John said I needed to talk to you.” I asked, “About?” CeCe quickly explained, “Well, I have a lot of unmated friends in other packs. I’d like them to be as happy as I am with John. With all the Hood members coming I asked the Luna if some of my friends could come to the wedding.”

I told her, “If Lexi said it was fine then I have no problem with it providing these are friends in allied packs.” She nodded, “They are in Blue Moon, Red Run, and Black Mountain pack’s.” I laughed, “I’m more surprised Beta Dylan didn’t make the request himself.” CeCe explained, “I made them promise not to say anything until the Luna said it was ok.” I nodded, “I’m fine with that since Lexi is.” CeCe grinned broadly and skipped away.

Not five minutes later Matt’s phone rang. He snorted answering, “Beta Dylan.” Beta Dylan greeted, “My buddy old pal, Beta Mattie! Your Luna is a ray of sunshine on this cloudy day.” I scoffed, “It is sunny, Beta Dylan.” Beta Dylan ignored me, “I’m going to get my very own Holves. I feel it. All because your Luna has a heart of gold. I’M WALKING ON SUNSHINE AND DON’T IT FEEL GOOD! HOLVES! ARE COMING NOW!” With that, he hung up.

I heard a pop and looked up in surprise to see Haley and Alpha Darrin. He smiled at me. I greeted, “Alpha Darrin I’m surprised to see you. Haley, I’m not surprised to see you. I tend to think the pop in my office is you.” Haley smiled, “Eric has a meeting, so I brought Darrin.” Alpha Darrin smiled, “She’s trying to always have one of us with her.” Haley huffed, “Yes, because having Blade isn’t efuckingnough.” Blade snorted, “Not point, Princess.”

I linked Alpha Darrin, “I’m not the only one struggling with the ring's reach then, am I?” Alpha Darrin answered, “No you’re not. Eric asked her if she was afraid and pushed her. She finally admitted that she would always be scared someone would try to take her back to that life. My brother reacted exactly how you think he would’ve.” I snorted. “Fucked her till she fell asleep and then started making plans?” Alpha Darrin asked, “Were you there?” I laughed, “It’s what I would do.”

Haley said, “Anyfuckingway I want to let you know I plan to take Lexi and company to the Hackura realm for a surprise before the wedding.” I told her, “I have no problem with that. I’m sure she’ll enjoy it. She could’ve told me though.” Haley frowned, “Then it wouldn’t be a surprise, would it?” I laughed, “Ted, is keeping that a secret?”

Alpha Darrin laughed explaining, “TeleTed is only being told when he’s popped to the party.” Matt commented, “Good plan.” Haley grabbed Darrin and popped out. Derrick asked, “Why didn’t she just come with Blade?” I said, “Apparently, I’m not the only Alpha reeling about the ring's reach that we didn’t previously know about.” Everyone nodded.

The days passed quickly. We’d found there were some partial werewolves in the files once Cameron got the code. Most were suspected partials of other supernatural groups. The timing lined up with Ducant men being in my damn area. Two were from mine and one was from Sophia’s. The bulk was Alpha Hammond’s old territory that was now my brother’s and mine.

Logically, we had no way of knowing since they were humans. I was still angry. Matt sighed, “Come on. We all need to go to gym and work off some steam.” I nodded. My Alpha blood was pounding in my ears. I was supposed to protect those pups. I should’ve watched the Ducant men closer. I knew they were not honorable men.

After I laid Matt out for the sixth time, he winced and got up, “It’s not your fault, Chase.” I argued, “I’m the Alpha in this area. Those pups were my responsibility.” Derrick tried, “Man, we had no idea they were pups. It wasn’t someone in the pack that knocked them up or got knocked up.” I hit a punching bag, knocking it off the holder.

I yelled, “They are innocent pups who have been subjected to GOD knows what. If they ended up with wolves, was anyone there for their first shift? It can KILL them if they don’t have help. It’s dangerous! Those fuckers took them when I would’ve helped them. Instead, this was going on under my FUCKING nose and I had NO goddamn idea.”

Matt pointed out, “No one did. They are human females. We can’t monitor them if we don’t know they’ve had sex with a wolf.” I started to beat up our heavy bags. I’d knocked several off when I heard their phones ding. Matt sighed, “My mate’s been popped off to the Hackura realm.” Derrick said, “Same.” I kept hitting the bag until I heard a pop.

I turned and smiled when I saw Lexi. I knew from the way Haley was talking I was missing something. I was tempted to thank her for getting Lexi out of here until I calmed down. I pulled her into a kiss. Then again, I could channel that anger into something else. I was about to drag her off to my office until Matt cleared his throat. I rolled my eyes. Haley was completely unfazed that I had just been practically dry humping Lexi. I sighed when they popped out.

About five minutes later we all turned as Alpha Jackson entered the gym. I raised an eyebrow, “Alpha Jackson?” He explained, “My sister-in-law texted me. She said when Eric’s in the mood you are in, he’s pissed the fuck off. She knows because he’s in the same mood right now. He’s getting his aggression out with the Hackura. I came here to save your heavy bags. Haley said she saw five of them had gone down for the cause.”

Matt muttered, “Bless you, Jackson. A Beta can only get hit so many times. A Gamma is staying all the way over there.” Derrick said, “I offered. You said and I quote ‘I got this.’ What do you want from me?” Matt snorted, “I lied. Jackson’s got this.” I nodded and jumped into the ring.

We were fairly evenly matched. We’d gotten several good shots in on each other. We didn't stop until a pup popped in with another pup. Jackson paused. I asked, “Uhh who are they?” Jackson sighed, “That’s one of Liam’s girls, Arlina. Bexley believes her power is to sense what people want. It would appear my son wanted me.” I laughed.

Matt scooped up the little guy, “Little Austin wanted to see his uncle Matt. Yes, he did. Look at you. You’re getting so big.” Derrick picked up Arlina and cooed at her. Alpha Jackson took his son from Matt. He observed, “You seem better, Alpha Chase. Plus, I’d imagine Lexi will be back soon.” I disagreed, “It’s only been twenty-five minutes.” Alpha Jackson snorted, “That realm is such a mind fuck. Eric has spent the night, killed someone, had a ball, became a prince, and then come back four hours later here. It’s the weirdest thing. Lexi is probably quite drunk at her splash club.”

I looked at Matt and Derrick. Both shrugged. I asked, “What on earth is a splash club?” Alpha Jackson admitted, “I have no idea. I’m sure when Molly comes back, I’ll find out.” Arlina popped from Derrick to Jackson. I asked, “Are they mates or something?” Jackson answered, “Arlina spends a lot of time with him. We don’t know though because fairies don’t announce it like we do. Emmaline hasn’t met my son yet. We will see. I’m sure Emmaline will meet them both soon enough. She could just want to spend time with him. I don’t fucking know anymore. Fairy’s. It’s so weird. Bye guys.” Arlina giggled and popped them out.

Matt said, “It’s cool but weird.” I laughed, “They don’t even know if they are mates yet, and I’m sure Liam’s head is set to explode.” A pop sounded and I turned. My mouth went dry and my blood started pumping again for a completely different reason.

I could tell Alpha Jackson what a splash club was now, a pool party. Derrick and Matt grabbed their mates and took off. I linked the pack, “Anyone who is in the gym, get the fuck out and stay out.” I heard snickers among the replies of, “Yes, Alpha.” I heard a few people leaving the gym.

My brain was not working properly. Her boobs were begging for me to play with them. Who was I to deny them? That would make me a bad mate and fiancé. Haley was a goddess. I was looking forward to the day Beta Dylan was wrong about something, but that day was definitely not today.

Haley left and I was tempted to take Lexi right here. After feeling her back against my chest, that’s exactly what I was going to do. She pushed her hips against mine and I nearly came. That feeling quickly left when she dropped away from me and told me to come at her. I wasn’t going to hurt her.

Fuck it, I’d just pin her. I needed her in the worst way. I charged but she flashed away. Bolt growled, “NO FLASHING!” I agreed. That was going to be a rule. Matt linked me and Derrick, “Is anyone else’s Hood member being a giant ass tease?” Derrick and I both replied, “Yes.” Matt sighed, “I both love and hate it.” I told them “When I catch mine it will worth it.” They both answered, “Same.”

I couldn’t catch her by running after her, but I could figure out where she was going next. We were in an enclosed space, and she seemed to want to stay in the building. That gave me options. I tackled her to the ground. FINALLY! I ripped her top off before she wriggled out of my grasp and flashed away. UMM NO! There was no running around topless! She said I do it all the time. I didn’t have perfect breasts and nipples everyone would stare at. I did it because I shifted. She said she was inside, and no one was here. I was beyond worked up. Her breasts bounced as she ran, and they were clearly taunting me. SHE was taunting me. I moved to intercept her again on the mats. I tackled her again. It was time to give us what we both wanted.

She was excited. Everything about her told me that. From her arousal to her flushed cheeks, right down to her heartbeat. She enjoyed teasing and taunting me. She’d been friends with a mischievous fairy for quite some time. A rare mischievous but not obnoxious fairy, not one who only cares about what they can get out of something. It was practically unheard of until Haley Conners entered the scene.

We were both a sweaty mess by the time we fell apart. Matt was going to kill me for all the new equipment he needed to order. This stuff had just gotten here. Lexi reminded me about Oscar and I breathed a little easier. Thank god. Matt never had to know.

I linked Oscar, “In about ten minutes I need you to come to the gym and snap it back to its rightful arrangement. We can keep it a secret between you and me.” Oscar laughed, “If you call Matt, Mattie, I’ll do it.” I laughed, “Fine. Beta Mattie can never know.” Oscar cheered, “Another team Beta Mattie member. I’d be honored to fix your gym for you. I might have already had to fix the locker room anyway.”
