Heath chuckled, “I bet we beat you there.” I smirked, “I bet we do too.” Sophia argued, “You don’t have to do that, Heath.” Allie spoke up, “Yes, he does.” She smiled at Sophia. Sophia’s eyes filled with tears, and she hugged Allie. She told my brother’s string, “You are an amazing person. I’m so glad he has you.”
All the Alpha had linked their Beta’s to join us outside. Beta Dylan said, “Wedding’s man! Mates galore and a fight to get your blood pumping. I LOVE THE HOOD AND FAIRIES! Everything is so exciting with them around!” Haley snapped me a bow. I nodded to her.
I knew she’d snap me into my outfit later out of habit. She was snapping me back into my dress though. I wanted Chase to take it off me. I said, “Cameron, you can’t come. Reagan is in labor. That’s what I was coming to tell you.” Cameron winced, “I have to go, I’m an Alpha and this is our ally.”
Chase was clearly linking Cameron. Eventually Cameron announced, “Reagan said she hasn’t progressed any. I have my marching orders people. Let’s end this threat before my pup is born. My Luna says hell awaits me if she does this alone.”
Nadine said, “I’ll go be with her, Cameron.” She kissed Frank, “You come back in one piece, you hear me?” Frank nodded, “I do.” Our warriors came outside. Kincade and Carry walked over hand in hand. Kyler and Kevin had appeared and I smiled at them.
Chase looked at Sophia. She nodded and cleared her throat. She addressed the crowd, “Thank you to all my allies for coming to my aide. I can never thank you enough. Let’s go end this ordeal. Let’s avenge my father, my Beta’s mother, and the former Gamma family. NO ONE gets away with killing the allied Alpha’s in our alliances.” I smiled at her.
Everyone else howled. Haley cheered, “There’s the bad ass bitch Alpha! Let’s fucking go!” Someone squeezed my arm. I turned to see Veronica and Titus along with all Cambridge men except Ubbe. She whispered, “He just switched with Evin. They all wanted to be here for you.” I said, “Ubbe will be pissed about the timing.” Veronica agreed, “He will.”
Sophia shifted and everyone else followed. Chase slammed his lips on mine, “Stay safe, wife of mine.” I retorted, “Back at you, husband of mine.” After the wolves took off, I nodded to Haley and she snapped me into my gear. Haley sighed, “I mean sometimes I just want to say fucking seriously? I can pop or portal us there.” I laughed, “You can pop this group there.” Haley shouted, “Thank you!” Haley grabbed my hand, and we popped in to prepare for another battle.
Reach
Chase woke up to an empty bed. I sat straight up looking around. I looked at the monitor and saw Lexi had Emmett. My little girl began to wake up and make noise. I smiled and got up. I grabbed some shorts and a shirt. I heard my dad make it to the twin’s room moments before me.
I linked him, “It’s ok no need to confirm, I know you have to have a second monitor.” My dad responded, “What was that son? I can’t hear you over the sound of my granddaughter cooing in my arms.” I rolled my eyes at him.
I held my son after he was done eating. He was perfect. I acknowledged that Hanson might have been trying to get in Lexi’s head, but there was a ring of truth to his words. We didn’t know how these rings operated. Hanson could’ve passed her name along. Hanson said he’d seen tapes of Haley. What if he’d sent tapes of him stalking Lexi? They could know her face. The ring could know she's BA. My mind was racing with possibilities.
Cameron and I needed to get together with Kincade. We needed to work out the continued protection for our families. I planned to have Kincade be the lead warrior of both packs with Cameron’s being secondary. I didn’t think Cameron would disagree with that choice. I wanted Haley with Lexi on missions though. Eric could find them if anything happened. I didn’t know if his Hackura connection was like a GPS but surely it was something like a beacon at least.
Her insider knowledge about the family only confirmed for me that she and Prince Logan Cambridge had something going on. I’d ask her one day. I shoved those thoughts aside arguing my points. Lexi had to understand where I was coming from based on who her brother was.
I was protective of her, Reagan, and Emma. I know I didn’t know everything Haley endured. What I did know made my skin crawl. The thought of even one of the things I knew happening to Emma tore me apart inside.
If they ever got a hold of Reagan or Lexi they’d try to break them. Lexi wasn’t a child raised in abuse trying to survive like Haley was. She was a fighter and fiercely independent. They’d realize they couldn’t break her. They’d eventually decide it was easier to just kill her. I wanted to tear people to shreds knowing that fact. I couldn’t lose her.
I was worried when she took Emmett from me. He was the only thing stopping me from destroying shit. She jumped in my lap which helped. I wished Kincade could guard her in the future, but with the new position I intended to give him he couldn’t. He’d put forward the candidate though.
We were going to have a long happy life together, I would make it so. I left to go to work. I linked Kincade, “I need you in my office.” He replied, “On the way Alpha.” I linked Cameron, “I need you in my office.” Cameron replied, “We just got settled into the new house so I’ll be there in ten. I have updates anyway.”
I linked Matt and Derrick, “Office…” I trailed off finding them there already. Out loud I said, “You guys are good.” Derrick laughed, “Early mornings with the little guy mean I get to spend time with him and Sally before his first nap. I get to the office early too.” I nodded, “As long as you’re getting to spend time as a family.” Derrick nodded, “We do. Thanks, Chase.”
Kincade walked in and sat down. He said, “The prisoners are secure, Alpha.” I said, “So I assume the warriors that went to the doctor’s office were successful?” Kincade nodded, “A nurse and receptionist were complicit in Alpha Hammond’s ring.” I questioned, “Are they working with Eddie now?” Kincade nodded.
Cameron walked in as my phone rang. I picked it up, “Eric?” Eric told me, “Haley and Aiden are about to destroy the knife. If anyone wants to say goodbye to Denise, now is the time.” I said, “I’ll make some calls.” Eric replied, “Sounds like a plan.” He hung up.
Cameron asked, “Who are you calling?” I called Heath. He picked up, “Chase.” I asked, “Is Noel around?” Heath replied, “One second.” I heard shuffling and then Heath said, “You’re on speaker. Noel is here.” I said, “The soul eater is about to be destroyed. If you’d like to speak to Denise before…”
Noel interrupted, “I have nothing to say to her. She left my mom, my REAL mom who wanted me, to suffer. She left her in that psycho’s hands, she drove my family and Heath’s dad’s family apart. She was complicit in the rings being run. She was always Noah’s mom anyway. She was more of an aunt to me. Now I know why.” I said, “If you’re sure.” Noel said, “I am. My dad won’t come either.” I cleared my throat, “Alright.” I hung up.
I linked the pack doctor, “Give Denise something that will ease her pain. The Soul Eater is about to be destroyed.” He answered, “Yes Alpha. I’ll go right now.” I announced aloud, “Ok, that’s handled. Kincade, I’d like you to be the lead warrior of both packs. Cameron’s will still be a lead warrior; you'll just be the head. Like Liam is.” Cameron nodded and linked me, “I back that decision. Kincade is stronger than Forrest.”
Kincade told us, “I would be honored.” I said, “Good. Now, we need to have permanent guards for Emma, Lexi, and Reagan.” Kincade said, “I have recommendations. Just know they don’t come from any place of personal gain. It’s from my evaluations of our warriors and Alpha Cameron’s.” I nodded.
Kincade blew out a breath, “Kyler should guard Lexi and Kevin should guard Emma. Blaine from Alpha Cameron’s pack should guard Luna Reagan. I also think we should have someone on Emmett for now and that would be Rodger from Alpha Cameron’s pack.” Rodger had been mated into their pack from Black Mountain so I knew he would be good.
I sat back, “I agree with Lexi, Emma, and Emmett’s guards. I’ve heard about Blaine before Cameron took over. I know he’s progressed since the training was changed. I agree with that assignment, but it is your Luna he’s guarding brother. The final say is yours.”
Cameron was quiet then said, “You think Hanson was telling the truth. You think they are all on some list and could be taken from us.” I explained, “I don’t plan to take chances. I think we don’t truly understand how these rings work. They have a way of communicating. Who's to say they don’t communicate names?”
Cameron growled, “They can’t have Reagan, SHE IS MINE!” I linked him, “We will protect them all. Reagan is yours.” Cameron took several deep breaths then said, “I agree. Blaine will shadow Reagan. I let Forrest know he’s still the lead warrior, but you’ll be the head like Liam is for the Conners. You can let everyone know about their assignments.” Kincade nodded, “I’ll have them on each of the women within a half hour. I’ll coordinate a meeting with Liam and the other Lead Warriors in Black Mountain to map out with Forrest how this will work between us.” I nodded.
When he left, I asked Cameron, “The doctor's office?” He growled, “I’m going to see them again after this. They passed along information to Alpha Hammond. Most names they passed off were she wolf’s who lost their mates and were pregnant. I have checked on them, most are safe. They were mainly from our pack or the Conners. I called Alpha Eric this morning to let him know to look out for those she wolves. We split the remaining names from Hammond’s pack. There are humans on the list. Well, maybe they are partials. They were the bulk of the names. Reagan was an exception, having a mate and being a Luna. Taking her was the highest risk.”
