We all turned to Haley. Eric spoke quickly into his phone. Anne frowned, “There was juice on the front porch. We have it here at our grocery store in the Shroud. I was so mad Tony just left it outside the door before going outside the Shroud for the rest of my list.”

Heath took off and came back with juice in a plastic bag. He asked, “This juice?” Anne nodded. Heath promised that Noah would die if he had anything to do with this. Anne frowned, “I saw something. I was going to tell my Tony, Ted, and Tate about it. I…. I can’t remember what it was now. For the life of me, I can’t.”

I hugged her, “That’s fine..” Anne pulled back, “Now you all quit fussing over me.” Ted grabbed her into a full hug. He told his mom, “Don’t you ever do that to me again. My heart can’t take it mom. I’m a sensitive soul.”

Anne was flustered, “Just WHAT are you all talking about?” Tate picked her up next as Haley snapped the room back in order. Tate nodded to Haley as he set Anne on the couch. Tate told her, “Just lay down, mom.” Anne set her jaw, “Now you listen here young man. I nursed you, fed you, and changed your diapers. I am NOT at the age where you get to tell me what to do. I am still your mother.”

Tony grabbed her hand, “Give our sons a break. Poor Ted found you, at least I’m guessing.” Ted sobbed, “I did. It was horrible.” He looked at me, “I don’t know how you... God, Lex.” I knew what he was going to say, but I was just glad this story had a different ending than mine. My mother was still dead, and Anne was back with us.

Haley popped back into the room with a thud. Her hands were a little pink. I was startled to realize she’d been burned. Alpha Eric hung up his phone and went to her. She stood irate, “WITCHES! FUCKING WITCH BITCHES! They NEED to die!”

Heath gaped at her, “You tried to pop to Noah?” Haley yelled, “FUCK YES I DID! Bjourn couldn't argue this wasn’t causing a DAMN problem! PLUS, I wasn’t going to kill him. I was just going to cart his ungrateful wretched Troll ass back here. I can’t get near him. I hit a wall. Not a hard wall, but it has a touch of iron to it. DARK FUCKING WITHCES! Can’t we all agree those bitches need to FUCKING DIE?!”

Eric growled, “The one that helped him will die. I will track them down to the ends of the earth for harming you. Your hands are burned, Angel.” Haley looked down and healed her hands. She lamented, “UGH! I WILL find the Troll. I will find him and make him SORRY he was EVER born. That fucking Troll piece of shit! Does he think I have time for this shit in my life?! He’s the most inconsiderate fucking person! It’s too bad my uncle is dead; they’d be best friends. Except Fabian wouldn’t have been able to STAND the Troll because he’s not a damn fairy.” She threw her hands in the air.

Anne chuckled, “I do like her so.” Ted hugged her, “Mom, I was so scared. I came in and the door was unlocked. I called out and I saw the mess. Then I saw…” He let out a wail. Tony and Tate put a hand on his back. Ted whispered, “I wouldn’t have stopped by if Matt hadn’t told me you wanted to see me. You wouldn’t be here with us.”

Anne gently said, “Now you stop that, Ted. You did stop by. Did I fall down? I was drugged and fell down? The Princess said that I put up a fight. I’m sure I would remember a fight.” Tony sounded haunted when he answered, “You were hit on the head, hard. I saw pieces of your skull and brain on that lamp.” He pointed at the lamp, went over to it, picked it up, and threw it outside since the door was still open.

Anne was horrified, “TONY! THAT WAS VINTAGE!” Tony shook his head, “I can’t look at it. I can’t look at something that had your blood on it. Haley, if you would be so kind as to remove the rug as well.” Haley snapped the carpet gone.

Anne shouted, “OH MY GOD THE RUG?! Come on! I searched for that carpet for MONTHS!” Haley conjured a new carpet piece for them. Anne evaluated it. It was a white plush rug with grey diamonds on it.

Anne pointed at her husband and sons, “You three men are LUCKY Miss Haley has good taste. Now you stop fussing right this instant. Both my boys are here! Tate, you’ve missed so much! Our Ted was kidnapped.”

She shot a glare at Ted. She added, “Of course he was rescued.” Tate jumped up, “What? Who would kidnap Teddy?” Anne explained in an exasperated tone, “He found his string and didn’t call his mother immediately. He even met his string’s parents first! After all the waiting I did!”

Ted argued, “I was protecting him!” Tate laughed, “Who’s your man, Teddy?” Ted smiled, “Beta Matt Miller. I’m the first Beta Male in pack history.” Tate’s face went through a range of emotions settling on happiness for his younger brother. He was prepared to be pissed off if the pack had made Matt step down.

Tate said, “Well, I’ll have to meet him.” Anne’s eyes narrowed, “Did you call him? Is he going to come fuss about me too?” Ted threw his hands in the air, “Of course I called him! My phone is dead, and I didn’t have Haley’s number. I had to use your phone. The healer,” He spat out with so much venom that Heath winced.

I was with Ted on this one, Ted continued, “Said we couldn’t do anything for you when he got here. I called Matt who got Haley and her wolf here.” Anne rubbed his arm, “Well now my future son in law saved the day then. I’ll have to send him a thank you card. Go see him.” Ted shook his head, “No, I’ll spend the night here with you.”

Anne disagreed, “Nonsense! You’ve worried the man. Neither one of my boys live here anymore, and you only stay on holidays. Your dad and I need some time too. Go be with your string’s boys.” Tate said, “Kylie won’t be back until tonight. I can stay for a bit.”

Anne blew out a breath, “Well, the rest you all go on then! Get! I know you all have business to take care of today.” We all begrudgingly walked outside. Haley grabbed me and Ted. Eric put his hand on her shoulder. She popped to her home first.

Eric held his hand out to Ted, “I am glad my wife was able to help you all. Beta Male Ted, I look forward to seeing you again. Same with you Lexi.” He gave me a knowing look. I panicked on the inside. Could he know about me and Chase?

Before I could let that thought send me into another tailspin Haley popped us to my house. Haley said, “I can come back here after I pop Ted to Matt. We could spend time together if you want, Lex.” I shook my head, “No, I’m just going to decompress and shower. I’ll text you if I change your mind. You spend time with those babies of yours. Give them a hug from me.” Haley frowned but nodded, “Alright. You’ll text me though if you change your mind?” I nodded, “I promise.”

I felt a tinge of guilt. She was worried but I was going to ask Chase to come over. I needed him. I shoved that aside and hugged Ted. Ted said, “You are stronger than I ever knew. I don’t know how you saw what you did and survived. I never understood why you took pills. That was one of my first thoughts when the healer said he couldn’t do anything. I literally thought I know why Lex needed to not feel. I am so sorry I never understood.”

I whispered, “I’m so glad she’s ok.” Ted shivered, “Thank you, Haley. Can I give you a hug?” My eyebrows raised. She paused then nodded. He hugged her briefly. She smiled after a second, “It was my pleasure so save her. I’m glad I could help. Let’s get you to Matt. Once he comforts you, he’ll go crazy. You will smell like your brother, and he hasn’t met Tate yet from what I gathered.”

Ted wiped a tear from his eye, “You’re saying he’s going to get possessive?” Haley nodded, “The second he feels you are ok he’s going to be all over you like pepperoni on a pizza.” I laughed, “It’s white on rice.” Haley said, “UGH! There is BROWN rice. That’s it, we are going. I conjured Sally’s things to her house. I assumed the stuff outside was hers.” I nodded, “Yes, it was.” Her eyes were tinged with worry for me. She was too sweet.

Haley popped out with Ted. I stood there for god knows how long. I was letting everything back in that I had pushed aside to be there for Ted. Heath texted me.

Heath:If you feel the need to go numb, you call me. Promise me, or I’ll bring you home.

Me:I promise.

Heath:Call your string.

Me:I’m texting him right now.

Heath:Call me if you need anything. I’ll drop everything and be there.
