Lexi wiggled her eyebrows, “Oh yeah? When did you meet her?” I ran a hand through my hair, “I haven’t met her. I just saw her when she saved Ted on our video call.” Lexi bit her lip, “And?” I groaned, “And I’m guilt ridden. I keep making out with your friend in my dreams. Sometimes both of you.” Bolt huffed, “Filter Chase, find your filter.”
Lexi’s eyes widened, then she shocked me by laughing. I stared at her bewildered, “I’ve been on pins and needles and you're laughing. She said that you’d laugh, and you’re laughing.” Lexi winked, “She does know me quite well. It’s just a dream.” I clarified, “You’re not mad?”
Lexi laughed again, “About a dream? No, I’m not mad about your dreams. Now if you do something mean in one of my dreams then I’ll be mad at you.” I said, “That makes no sense.” Lexi shrugged, “Such is the way of women.” I smiled, “I love you so much.” Lexi smiled, “I love you too.” I kissed her finally feeling guilt free. I was stunned she didn’t care, but I was going to go with it. We spent the rest of the weekend together both at her place and mine.
Project Get a Clue
Lexi hugged all of Chase’s family as they came to her. When Ted hugged me, he whispered, “You’ve got to stop doing this to me. I don’t know why I waste my breath telling you this though. You’re just going to run off and do it to me all over again.” Sally smiled as she hugged me. She whispered, “They’ll get over it.” I hugged her back, “Thanks, Sally.”
I would have helped with the food except Chase had a vice like grip on my waist. He needed me close right now, and I couldn’t blame him. I couldn’t keep the smile off my face. It was the kind of large gathering Heath and I always wanted to have as kids with family. I wished I would’ve invited him; he would’ve loved it.
Chase kept one hand on my thigh throughout the entire time we sat at the table. It was like he was afraid if he wasn’t touching me then I wouldn’t really be here. Nadine stood and tilted her head towards the kitchen.
All the women stood and followed her into the kitchen. She had a bunch of ingredients sitting on the island. Nadine smiled, “Alright ladies. This is my special we clean up and enjoy ourselves cocktail. I looked at all the ingredients laid out. She had Apple Cider, Pumpkin Pie Spice, Red Apples, Oranges, Ginger Ale, Cranberries, and Champagne. I smiled over at Sally who looked a little pale when Nadine handed her drink to her. I took out my phone.
Me:You ok?
Sally:I need you to drink mine.
I glanced up at her startled then my face broke into a broad grin. There was only one reason for that.
Me:Is that so?
Sally:Yes??
Me:Because….
Sally:I’m pregnant. Haley told me when she popped in to ask about her pie recipe she googled.
I snorted out loud, and everyone looked over. I lied, “My brother thinks he’s funny.” Sally bit her lip. Nadine handed me my drink. I walked over and stood next to Sally. When no one was looking I quickly drank half my drink and passed it to her. She smiled at me, and I started sipping on her drink instead.
Nadine started the conversation, “So, Lexi. Are you moving in here anytime soon?” I shrugged, “We will see.” Nadine simply nodded then asked, “Sally?” Sally smiled, “Derrick wants us to stay in my place until Noah is caught. He doesn’t want him to be able to get to me, and I told him I didn’t want to endanger anyone in the pack house.”
Nadine took her hands, “Hey, we are a pack and we protect our own. If you and Derrick wanted to live on the grounds here, then we WILL protect you.” I smiled at her. Sally blushed. Reagan agreed, “Heck yes, they would. My parents went to our little sister’s mate’s house for Thanksgiving this year, but when they get here, they would tell you the same thing.” Sally smiled, “Yes, they said they would be here in time for dessert.” I took out my phone and texted Sally again.
Me:Does Derrick know about the baby?
Sally:Not yet. I’m going to put a binky into his piece of pie.
Me:That’s so adorably you.
Sally:Thank you. I’m so happy.
Me:I’m so happy for you. This is how it should’ve been for you all along.
Sally smiled at me, but she didn’t reply. Susie came over to me. “Can we have another play date?” I agreed, “Of course, name the time and place.” Susie smiled, “Well, I play with the other pups now, but you could come play with us again. Everyone wants to see you.” I laughed asking, “Do they?” Susie nodded, “Everyone knows you’re our Luna.” I wanted to wince, “Everyone?” Susie nodded, “Yup! The whole pack has it figured out.” I sighed.
Reagan coughed, “Worst kept secret ever.” I stuck my tongue out at her as everyone laughed. Nadine gave Sally another drink. I was getting drunk tonight. Everyone turned back around, and I slammed the rest of Sally’s first drink. I drank half of mine and took her new one. Sally mouthed, “Thank you.” I nodded.
I turned and caught Reagan biting back her laugh. Sally mouthed, “She knows.” I raised an eyebrow at the both of them. She could’ve been helping me then. I wasn’t even close to tipsy, but Nadine made her drinks strong.
Reagan said, “So, Alpha Eric’s Beta called. Apparently, Haley was in a great deal of pain. He was preparing allies to go after her and her friend.” Sally mouthed, “They didn’t say your moniker. Heath said Haley went after you.” I actually wished Beta Caleb had told them it was the Black Arrow. Then Chase would know my moniker, and I wouldn't have told him. He would’ve figured it out all on his own, and Heath couldn’t get upset about that.
I admitted, “There were some complications and an explosion that we set, but ya know it still throws you against the wall.” Everyone gaped at me. Isabella wandered into the living room with the guys after she’d finished her drink.
Reagan cleared her throat, “So, Sally and Ted are marked. I say it’s high time Lexi gets marked.” I flushed crimson. I whispered, “Bolt and I talked about it.” Reagan raised an eyebrow along with everyone else. Nadine pressed, “And?” I shrugged, “We are going to work on Chase.”
Nadine laughed, “Sweetie, just get him in the throes of passion and tell him to mark you. His Alpha blood will demand it, and viola problem solved.” Sally added, “You’d seal the deal if someone flirted with you before you were in the throes of passion.” Nadine spit out her drink.
