I greeted, “Alpha Eric, I’d ask what I can do for you, but I think we all know why you are here.” Alpha Eric asked, “Do we? Why am I here then?” I didn’t mince words, “You want a witch that my Beta and warriors caught. My Beta informed me that our Beta Male told him your mate wanted to take a crack at her.”
Alpha Eric was trying not to laugh, “She does. She’s with our pups this morning, but she wanted me to try to get answers first. Then she was going to talk to the witch.” I was going to play this up. I said, “From our Beta Male I understand that she is friends with his business partner, but this happened in my territory.”
Matt linked, “Hey now, whatcha doing?” I replied, “Making it look like I don’t know Lexi.” Matt snorted, “You can’t see me, but I just rolled my eyes at you.” Alpha Eric said, “My wife is insistent. This is her way of being nice. If you say no, I’d imagine you’ll be short a prisoner soon.”
I questioned, “So this is an ultimatum?” Alpha Eric’s lips were twitching, “Not from me, no.” I sighed, “My Beta wants to kill said witch. So, I suppose if you agree not to kill her, you can take her. I have another prisoner to deal with.”
Alpha Eric smiled, “I could take him too. I’m sure Haley would delight in speaking with former Gamma Wallace.” I snorted, “Of course you know. Do you happen to know the information we are wanting to get out of him?”
Alpha Eric frowned, “I have no evidence the former Beta was involved to overthrow Sophia.” I countered, “Do you think he was?” Alpha Eric said, “No, I don’t. His wife is who I’m not so sure of.” I was surprised by that.
Alpha Eric continued, “Alfred Junior’s mother died after he was born. That was Former Beta Alfred Sr’s true mate. The former Beta did not wait for a second chance mate. He found a she wolf to help raise his son and marked her. Beta Alfred’s brother and sister aren’t as strong as he is. I believe the mother could be involved if she thought it could improve her pup’s stature. I can’t prove that though.”
I admitted, “We didn’t know that about Beta Alfred Sr.” Alpha Eric smiled, “It’s not well known, and if not for my wife and her feelings I wouldn’t have told you now.” I nodded, “Thanks.” Alpha Eric stood, “Thank you for your witch prisoner. She will be alive when she is returned. I cannot say in what condition. I believe my wife plans to have our pup’s practice their powers on her.” I was stunned but replied, “Of course she does.” Alpha Eric finally laughed, “She’s one of a kind, my Angel.” Alpha Jackson waved to Matt, and they left.
I nodded to Ted, “You’re up. There are guards down there so Wallace cannot hurt you. We will be watching and listening on audio up here.” Ted nodded and left. Matt took out his phone, “Hey Saied, it’s Uncle Matt. I need a favor.” Saied laughed, “What do you need, Uncle Matt?” Matt said, “There’s a dinner I need your dad to not be at tonight.”
Saied squealed, “YAY! I wanted him to come to piano practice, but he said you needed him.” Matt continued, “I don’t want your dad to know I don’t want him there.” Saied giggled, “You owe me an ice cream trip.” Matt smiled, “Deal.” Saied agreed, “Then daddy won’t be there.” He hung up.
I laughed, “If you have a daughter, I just got a glimpse into your future.” Matt shrugged, “I’ve already got a leg up on Ted then. I’ve been doing this for years with Saied. She’s a smartie pants.” We were silent as Ted entered the dungeons whistling. He passed Alpha Eric on the way out, nodding to him.
Ted walked to Wallace’s cell. He called, “Hey you on the crappy cot….” Wallace turned over staring at Ted with wide eyes. Ted asked, “Are you Gamma Wallace?” Wallace stood, “Yes.” He said, “I’ve got your breakfast for you.” Wallace eyed him suspiciously, “I don’t normally get that much food.”
Ted shrugged, “I was told to get your breakfast. I think everyone should have some cheer in their lives. I haven’t been around wolves until recently, but I have noticed you ALL put away food like it’s going out of style. Is this not enough? I can go back and get you more.”
Wallace shook his head, “No… no... you could put it down. That’s enough food.” Ted nodded and slid the food in his cell. He went back and sat down. He asked, “Do you mind if I stay? If I go back out there my mate’s going to drag me back to bed. You guys have stamina, man. Poor TeleTed needs a break.”
Matt snorted, “No he doesn’t.” Wallace laughed, “You can’t keep up with your girl?” Ted laughed, “You have no gaydar.” Wallace shrugged, “I didn’t want to be wrong and offend you. You ask a wolf if he’s gay, and he’ll take your head off if he’s not.” Ted said, “My mate ripped someone's heart out within five minutes of my meeting him so; I believe you.”
Wallace laughed, “I’ve ripped my fair share of hearts out for the one I love too.” Ted clapped, “Ohhh you have a mate too? Where is she?” Wallace sighed, “My goddess given mate was killed in a rogue attack.” What? I asked Matt, “Did we know that?” Matt shook his head, “I like Beta Alfred Jr. so little these days. This does not help.” I agreed. I pointed out, “He might not know.” Matt sighed, “True.”
Ted frowned, “I’m sorry.” Wallace shrugged, “I didn’t really even get to know her. I tried to save her, but she was too slow. My wolf was upset.” Derrick grunted, “That’s a cold way to discuss your dead mate.” Yes, it was.
Ted said, “I can imagine he was upset. Did you rip the heart out of those that killed her?” Wallace said, “No, I did kill them though.” Ted nodded understandingly, “Ohhh I see. You’ve got another special gal?” Wallace smiled, “Yeah, but she never saw me as a serious contender for her heart.”
Ted encouraged, “Then you just gotta get out of here and show her!” Wallace laughed, “You don’t know why I’m here do you?” Ted shrugged, “I didn’t ask.” Wallace said, “I’ll get out of here and be back with my pack in a few days.” Ted said, “The special girl is there then.” Wallace said, “I didn’t say that.” Ted laughed, “You didn’t have to man. Your eyes lit up when you said it.”
I looked at Matt, “Is he actually in love with Sophia?” Matt concurred, “I’m getting that impression.” Ted said, “Well, you just gotta get out of your situation. Then you get the girl.” Wallace smiled, “I still plan to get the girl.” Ted clapped, “That’s the spirit. Go with chocolates and flowers for an apology. I don’t know how long you’ve been here, but us girls want a man who’s present.”
Wallace laughed, “I used to get her flowers. She’d laugh. I’ve loved her since we were pups. I always thought she was my mate. When I was presented with an option of how to be with her for real, I jumped at the chance. That’s the moment I lost her, but not for good.”
Ted asked, “You lost her?” Wallace said, “She’s upset with me. In fact, she’s the one who put me in the dungeons.” Ted frowned, “Well, she didn’t kill you. So, there’s that.” Wallace snorted, “That’s true. Your Alpha would kill me in a heartbeat.” Ted guided the conversation away from me, “She must like you then. If a different Alpha would kill you and she didn’t.” Wallace agreed, “She does.”
Ted encouraged, “Just apologize to her then.” Wallace argued, “It’s not that simple. I’m in this plan, and I can’t get out.” Ted clicked his tongue, “Dude, your move is to apologize. There’s no plan when you get caught.” Wallace admitted, “I still don’t know how I got caught. It was the perfect plan.”
Ted countered, “Nothing is perfect.” Wallace mused, “I would’ve led by her side. We would have beautiful pups.” Ted told him, “You still can. You just gotta apologize. With the chocolates and flowers. Then give her time and space. She’ll come around.”
Wallace sighed, “Time is something I don’t have.” Ted frowned, “Why?” Wallace said, “The plans are still in motion. I can’t stop them from the inside now that I’ve been caught. She’s vulnerable with me in here. I was the one who wanted to keep her around. That’s why I can’t answer your Alpha’s questions. If I die, then no one can protect her.”
Ted looked horrified, but quickly masked it. He waved his hand, “That’s more reason to get back in her good graces.” Wallace sadly told him, “I can’t. I’m in this plan until the end.” Ted questioned, “What’s more the end than being passed back and forth between dungeons?”
Wallace huffed, “Getting my own heart ripped out by the woman who’s owned it since we were two years old. Or watching hers be ripped out. That’s why I agreed to help them in the first place. She’s a good leader, my woman. They just refuse to see it. She’s scared. She’s got enemies everywhere and she knows it. She’s focused on me when she should be focused on the ones running free.”
Ted complimented, “That’s a good start to a poem for forgiveness. Women love that stuff. Come on man, I can tell you really love her. If I’m picking up what you’re throwing down, it’s Alpha Sophia. Tell her how you feel, man. My Alpha won’t let anything happen to her.”
Wallace sneered, “Like he didn’t before? There was a whole plan to kill her and take over. Did your precious Alpha even know? NO! I saved her! ME! NOT HIM! I can’t tell her what she wants to know because YOUR Alpha WILL kill me when I do. If I’m dead, there’s no one between her and them. With me still kicking the plan could work.” Ted said, “Point of reference, I’m not a wolf. I just met the Alpha here. I’m learning procedures and what not.”
I told our group, “That was smart. It paints him as neutral, possibly not on my side.” Matt snorted, “His commentary in our link is hilarious. He would like it noted that never would he ever believe this guy over you. He wants to know how we didn’t know he was a weasel because he looks like one.” Derrick snorted, “Pass it along I wasn’t his friends for a reason. If we were friends, I’d have known he was demoted. Or asked why the hell he wasn’t around.” Valid point.
