I slapped my palm against his chest as I backed out of his embrace.
“I didn’t expect to return to the Christmas town that I visited growing up and fall for a woman who is head over heels in love with Christmas. How can I compete?”
“I don’t know.” Running my fingers over my dangling dark brown ponytail, I looked anywhere but in his eyes.
He picked up the drill. “Hope, we have plenty of time to get to know each other.”
Noah returned his attention to our project.
Palming the cabinets over my head, I pondered on his words. He liked me the day we met at the diner. God his lips felt so fucking good against my skin.
Don’t get lost in his words. The guy is freakishly gorgeous. You know the kind of man that makes you nervous just being in his presence.
The only reason I wasn’t nervous was because I refused to show interest in him. His tousled brown hair, neatly shaven beard, those stunning green eyes that could laser your panties off of your body. And that sinful chiseled frame.
Hey, Hope, listen up. If you’re not careful he’ll have your toes curling by the end of the night. The devilish voice inside me snickered.
There was no way I’d fuck him after just meeting him two days ago.
The rest of the morning I made short talk to keep the focus off the two of us becoming an item.
“Noah, how old are you?”
“Thirty- three?”
“And what are you like twenty-two?” He smirked.
“Nope. Happy to know I look pretty good for thirty,” I grinned.
“What are your brothers like?”
I beamed with excitement as I held up the first set of cabinets in my kitchen.
“My older brother Zach is cunning. He can charm the panties off of any woman.” Gripping the power drill, Noah shook his head as he drilled a screw into the wood.
“Nolan. That guy had a wild streak growing up. He snowboarded off our roof one time. That was epic.”
My mouth dropped open. “Dangerous much?”
“I know,” Noah laughed. Not a half smile. His entire face lit up. I loved to see him happy. It was a rarity I noticed since we met.
“My youngest brother Alexander is laid back like our mom. Doesn’t let much of anything bother him. Not even trauma. I tell you one thing is for certain there’s never a dull day running a company with those three.”
I chuckled. “Are they single?”
“Yes, there isn’t a woman out there who could tie them down. What about your sister and brother?”
“My baby brother Miles is twenty-four. Women gravitated to him. Doubt he’ll settle down anytime either. He always makes me laugh and he’s over protective as hell.
And Claire is twenty-seven. She’s killing it on the fashion runways in New York. Soon she’ll take Milan by storm too. I’m proud of them and so is my dad.”
“That’s good. Sounds like he and your mom did a great job.”
“So did your parents. Look at you. Great with your hands and you created a successful beer company.”
“And soon I’ll add a profitable flipping business with my partner.” He wiggled his brows.
Deep laughter released from my throat. “I like that. Speak it into existence.”
