CHAPTER FOUR
COLLIN
Slowly, my eyes opened. I glanced around the dark hotel room. How long had I been asleep? I peeked at my watch. Ten sixteen in the morning. Shit, how many beers did I drink last night? I didn’t remember. Searing pain shot through the back of my head. I needed a couple of aspirin. Clutching my head against the headboard, I pondered on last night’s events. I remember staring at Kara intensely last night. The guy who sat at her table and kissed her cheek, I wanted to rip his lips off of his face. She belonged to me. Kara just didn’t know it yet. I understood her concern; I didn’t do girlfriends. I fucked women and sent them on their way. Yes, I wanted to fuck Kara. Believe me, I couldn’t wait to slide deep inside her. My eyes narrowed at the details of the basic suite. No overnight bag. My clothes were on the floor. The chain of events smacked my skull like a freight train.
“Oh fuck. Where is Kara? She was here with me last night,” I muttered to myself.
Fuck, I made her come when I shouldn’t have touched her. Why didn’t she wake me? Shit, she was so intoxicated last night. Her pussy was so tight, like she was a virgin.
No, she wouldn’t let me touch her if she were a virgin.
My sledding appointment was at noon. The memory of Kara coming all over my hand was now stuck at the forefront of my brain. I needed to watch her come again like I needed my next breath. How could I be so drawn to her? We just met. I wasn’t sure how I could return to California and never see her again. I clenched my eyes shut. No, that wasn’t ever an option. She was meant to be mine. Fuck all the women on speed dial. Kara was all that mattered.

Forty-five minutes later, I stalked through the door of Riley’s Adventurous Tour Guide Services.
“Good morning, Mr. Riley.”
“Hey, good morning, Mr. Daughtry.”
“Please call me Collin.” After all, I did have his daughter screaming my name last night.
He grinned. “All right, Collin. Are you ready to go, sledding?”
“Not really. I have a splitting headache.”
His jaw slacked. “Maybe you and Kara are coming down with the same thing, because she reassigned you to Ernie.”
My blood coursed through my veins. I swear I saw red.
“She could’ve told me she needed today off. I can wait until tomorrow.”
“Ok, let me check the schedule.” He pecked away at the computer keys.
His brow furrowed. “Is everything all right between you two? Because she removed herself as your tour guide.”
Collin, get a grip.“Yes sir, not sure why she’d do that,” I lied.
That was why I didn’t want to touch her. She probably regretted what happened between us.
“I need to see Kara.”
“Why?”
“I want to make sure she’s all right. How far is the rental car company?”
“If I find out otherwise, I’ll hunt you down and kill you,” he growled.
“Mr. Riley, I like Kara a lot. I wouldn’t ever hurt her. I’d only protect her. I don’t want to spend time with her as her client. I’d like to date your daughter.”
He laughed. “You and every young man in this town.”
“When she’s not being crass, she’s a sweetheart.”
He smiled. “That’s true. Well, the rental car company’s about two miles down the road. Take one of the trucks outside. If you wreck it, I’ll deduct the money from your deposit.”
“Understood, Mr. Riley.”
