Yes, I was glad that Vincent and I had a son and that he was still a great dad to him, but divorce was so much more complicated when you had a kid in the mix. You couldn’t just make a clean break and never see each other again.

“Oh well.” I sighed again and popped a few bubbles with my pointer finger. “He knows I’m still looking for a date to the wedding, so I’m determined to make that happen.”

“Did you match with any more cute guys?” she asked.

“I was just about to check them out when you called. I had six matches at least. Hopefully a couple of them are cute and okay with not adding more children into the mix.”

“I’m sure you’ll find a guy soon.”

Afterwards, Ivy caught me up on everything going on in her life. She was getting settled in her apartment in California. She had moved there to be closer to her movie star boyfriend Justin, and also just because she really loved it.

“Justin is filming in Texas right now,” she said. “So I’ve been filling my time with working at the magazine, which has been good. And I’m excited to fly out to be with him next weekend.”

“Sounds like things are going really well for you,” I said. “I’m so glad things are working out. You deserve it.”

Ivy had been through so much already in her life. It was good to see her getting the things that she had always wanted.

“Thank you,” she said. I heard the smile in her voice. “I’m really happy right now.”

I smiled. “You sound happy.”

“So when are you and Jaxon going to come visit?”

“I’m still not sure,” I said. “I was hoping to take some time off in May. Jaxon is getting to the age where I think he’d really enjoy going to Disneyland and the San Diego Zoo, so I really want to take him before the weather gets too hot there.”

“And of course you’re going to take him to the beach, right?” she asked.

“Of course.”

Vincent and I had always talked about renting a big house on the beach for a couple of weeks and just enjoying the ocean and everything along the coast.

I may not have Vincent to do that with anymore, but I could still do it on my own. And it sounded like Ivy might be up for tagging along as well.

“I’ll have to look at my schedule a little closer and make sure I have a few weeks without court dates, and then I’ll let you know.”

“Sounds good,” she said.

The water was only lukewarm at this point, the bubbles all but gone, so I knew I’d need to hurry and lather up before it got much colder.

“Anyway,” I said. “I better get going now. I’ll let you know if I get another date set up.”

“Yes, make sure you do.”

We said our goodbyes, and then I quickly did my thing and got out. After dressing in my tank top and shorts for bed, I messaged a few of the guys I’d matched with and went to bed.

Hopefully, I’d be one step closer to finding my Prince Charming when I woke up in the morning.

Vincent

“Um, I think we have a problem,”Cole said in a low voice when I let him into my hotel room Saturday evening.

It was the night before our big game, and I had just been going over my notes for the game tomorrow when his knock interrupted me.

“What?” I asked, feeling my heart rate pick up. “Did Tony sneak his girlfriend into his hotel room again?”

To keep the team in the best mindset before the games, we always stayed in a hotel the night before. That way we were free from outside distractions and able to really prepare ourselves for the next day.
