“Yes. Problem solved. Now, where were we?” I replied with a lopsided smile. Amber’s eyes darted nervously to the door but I saw the flash of excitement in there and it made my cock twitch.

“Open the door,” Amber ordered in a breathy voice as she folded her arms, and glared at me, all spitting fury and ready to scratch if necessary. I’d soon have her purring.

“Why? Scared?” I taunted.

“This isn’t a game of chicken, Max. We’re not teenagers.”

I didn’t give a shit that I was in the toilets, I just knew that only one thing made sense when it came to Amber and me; ourchemistry, that sexual pull. As I said, if I had to start there, then I would. Even when we were fighting it was off the charts. I could see the flames of heat in her eyes as I stood before her.

I roamed my gaze over her slight frame, fuck me she wasstunningwith her flashing eyes and pouty lips.

“If you think I’ll allow you to touch me in abathroom, you’re crazier than I thought.”

“It isn’t exactly a public toilet in here,” I pointed out, glancing around the lavish room.

“It’s still unhygienic,” she pointed out with a stubborn tilt of her jaw.

I came to stand in front of her, “You need me, Amber. Let me make you feel good.”

“That isn’t what I want,” she said on an exhale, dropping her arms.

I towered over her, sexually aggressive waves bouncing between us. “You lie so easily with your mouth but your body knows the truth.”

I cupped her chin, forcing her eyes to mine as she tried to look away, and with my other hand, I rubbed my thumb under one eye, collecting a thread of tell-tale moisture.

“I made you cry. That wasn’t my intention. Forgive me?” I whispered as my mouth lowered close to hers.

“This isn’t a good idea Max. It’s just going to complicate things.”

“I don’t care. Let me make you feel good. You know I can?” I drawled in a deep voice, heavy with my hunger for her.

“You’ve spent too much time regretting past actions which were out of your control. Life is for living, take a risk for once in your life.”

“I did and look where that got me,” she said, the wobble in her voice clear.

“You were little more than a child, Amber. You’re a woman now and ready to make your own decisions. To get whatyouwant.”

“And what is that?”

“You want to follow your instincts. Fuck, maybe even your heart. You do have one, I’ve seen it.”

“I think we both know that’s now how our story is written,” Amber sighed.

“What isthatsupposed to mean? We are each in charge of our own destiny and this—whatever it is, has barely even started. I promised your father I’d look out for you but it turned into much more than that. This hasnothingto do with Alexander Harker, not anymore. Trust me.”

My hand dropped to her throat and I ran my fingers over her collarbone. She was so delicate there.

“I don’t know if I can and now with Zander being released, my head is such a mess, Max.”

“You can.Fuckhim. I won’t let him near you. Leave the past where it belongs and start something new and exciting. See where it goes,” I coaxed, tilting my head to the side as I watched her shiver slightly.

“With you, you mean?” Amber whispered, her expression now containing wonderment and what I wanted to describe as hope.

“Why not?” I replied with a hooded look.

Amber’s eyes roamed over my face. Was she looking to see if I was all talk, probably but that so wasn’t the case. I’d had enough of playing games.

“You arenotthe princess and I’mnotthe villain. Thisisn’ta story, it’srealand raw and yes, complicated but who gives a fuck. Let’s complicate thehellout of thingstogether. Why not?”
