Waved the guys over who were riding with me, I gave a detail on who was supposed to stay with who once we got there. I didn’t want any of our guys solo on the field.

We took off—four bikes, five trucks, a dozen men in total—and made our way out toward Bakersfield. I had already picked the spot where the trucks would wait, where we would cut the bikes and start moving on foot.

I was going to reclaim my standing in the clubhouse with this. Well, killing the leader of our rivals hadn’t hurt either. We needed to get the guns back and deliver them tonight. Then, it would be all right again.

CHAPTER 18

KORDELL

We waitedfor it to be completely dark before advancing down the road toward the Suns’ warehouse. We ditched our rides behind an old barn, where I left two of our members to keep watch so we could also be warned if anyone else tried to come down the dead-end road. Along with leaving three members close to the entrance.

I crept up to the back edge of the storage building that was supposedly holding our weapons. Flanking me was the road captain and the rest of the other members who had come with us.

I could see four guys playing cards out front. All drinking. It didn’t look like the news about their president had reached them yet. Which worked toward our advantage.

I motioned to the road captain, and he moved up next to me.

“What has the other group reported?” I asked in a hushed tone.

He held up his cell phone for me to see. Two on a perimeter on the road. They would be easy to handle. They’d also seen a couple go into the building through a side door.

“Tell them to take the two out silently and to message when the job’s done before moving up,” I whispered, my eyes never leaving the four at the table.

Shit, this meant two entrances, which meant more room for errors.

I needed to figure out how to split the ones outside up. I’d rather not have a shoot-out because that would make someone call the cops.

“You take two of our guys and go over by their trucks. Create a distraction and hopefully a few of the ones in front will move,” I told him, jerking my head over to where most of the vehicles here were parked.

He nodded in reply, then backed up, tapping two of the guys with us on the shoulders. They all quickly snuck away.

After a few more moments passed, one of the guys got up and started walking back toward us. I motioned for the guys to hug the building’s wall, and we waited, holding our breaths as he walked past and started to piss at the edge of the fence line. I crept up behind him and covered his mouth as I slid a knife into the side of his neck. He jerked, but it was too late. I pulled it back out, and the guys remaining with me grabbed his body and dragged it over to the back wall, laying it there. I kicked some dirt over the blood trail. Just in case someone else decided to get up, I didn't want to risk them turning halfway and running back.

A text came in, and I quickly checked it. The two up the road were down. I looked over at the cars, where the three were fucking around with something. Suddenly, I heard a horrible scratching sound. Fuck, they were keying the vehicles and making it sound almost like a real fucking animal. I tucked my head back around the corner as two of the remaining guys walked over toward them. And we made our move. I went for the remaining guy at the card table while the rest went for the two walking toward the cars. But when I was wrestling the man intothe ground, about to snap his fucking neck, I heard a gunshot ring out, and everyone froze a moment as we all looked around.

One of my guys fell to the ground.

FUCK.

Then, an all-out war started. Gunshots popped off left and right. I pulled out my own pistol and struggled against the man I was in a heated grappling match with before finally shooting him in the chest. I shoved him off me and rolled to my stomach as I heard some shots go over my head. I heard one of the doors to the building slam open and a shotgun go off. I pushed myself to my feet and ran to the door next to me, flinging it open and waving my pistol left and right to clear the opening before stepping inside. I closed and locked the door behind me as I could hear the fight raging outside. I quietly made my way into the building.

I slid behind a crate as I heard some footsteps approaching.

“It’s the fucking BLVDs!”

“I got a call from the clubhouse. They got the president tonight too.”

“Ain’t no way! What the actual fuck is going on?!”

“How did they figure out where we were storing their weapons?”

“We didn’t even tell—”

I jumped up and opened fire. Their voices had gotten so close that I knew they had to be on the other side of the crate I was hiding next to. I watched as one fell, and one yelled as a bullet hit him, but I realized there was another guy with them as I dived behind a box truck in the garage.

SHIT! I should have checked my visuals first. I could hear the gunshots outside, and no one was coming in the way I had come down because I’d locked the damn door behind me. So, it was just me and two other Suns locked in a battle to the death in here.

I moved low. Peeking under the truck, I saw two sets of boots, splitting apart. They were going to try and surround me. Shots started to fire off, and I leveled my body with the floor and slid under the truck, grabbing my Micro Uzi in my hand. I waited for them to walk over to where I had been standing moments before, and then I made my move.
