Chapter 26

She angled herhead and gave in to his kiss. Damn. She’d missed this—him—so much over the last five days. Her hands trailed up his chest and linked at the base of his neck, brushing the soft hairs. She pressed her body into his, her nipples pebbling as his strength and heat consumed her.

A shudder rolled through him, and she darted her tongue out, tracing the seam of his lips, to which he quickly gave her entry.

His tongue tangled with hers as his hands skated down her spine, sending bolts of need down her body.

She broke the kiss after an endless moment and settled back on her heels, her breathing as harsh as his. His eyes pierced through her, blazing blue heat.

“So, we’re going to really do this?” she asked, unable to stop herself.

He dropped his head, his eyes locked on hers. “Stop second-guessing us. Yes. We might not make sense on paper. We weren’t looking for love or a relationship or anything real, but it happened. And I’ve never been happier. Never. There is no one I’d rather argue with or make love to or beat at mini-golf than you.”

“Hey. I beat you fair and square. I have the shark lecture to prove it,” she said with a laugh.

He grinned. “I know. I just like it when you’re fiery. Seeing you upset, with those tears in your eyes, almost broke me, so my only option was to rile you up.”

She gave him that you’re ridiculous look he always accused her of and then laughed as he lifted her off her feet.

“Darcy Elizabeth Collins. I’m in love with you. This is for as long as you’ll keep me, and every time you want to second-guess that, let me know and I’ll remind you of right now. You’re it for me. The bad boy of hockey has been tamed.”

She fisted her hand in his shirt. “I mean, he doesn’t always need to be tamed.”

His pupils darkened further, and he rocked his hips against her, his hard cock causing heat to pool between her thighs. They had way too many clothes on right now.

“You know, we’ve never had make-up sex. I’ve heard it’s amazing,” he said, his hand squeezing her ass.

She gasped against his mouth. “We should definitely rectify that immediately.”

“With pleasure,” he said, and she wrapped her legs around his lean hips without a second thought.

He walked them into the bedroom and dropped her onto the bed that she’d missed sleeping in. He stood at the edge, his eyes never leaving hers as he stripped down to nothing. She quickly followed suit.

He leaned over her, his legs straddling her hips as he kissed her with barely constrained desire. She pulled him down on top of her, wanting all of him. Messy and crazy and pent-up passion threatened combustion on both their parts. She ached for him to sink inside her. To love her as much as she loved him.

He caught himself on one arm before his weight crushed her. Weight she would’ve welcomed.

“What’s the rush? We have all the time in the world.” His short, choppy breaths belied his languid tone.

“Please, Jake,” she said before she sealed her lips to his, swallowing his groan.

He flipped them without breaking the kiss, and she anchored her hands in his soft hair, her tongue dueling with his as she rocked her heated center against his hard cock. She needed him inside her.

She reached down between them, fisting his cock and giving him a light squeeze.

“Fuck, Darcy. I need a condom.” He groaned against her mouth, pumping his hard length in her fist.

“We could skip it. I’m on the Pill and want you inside me with nothing between us,” she said. She trusted him and she wanted this more than anything. “I’ve never had sex without a condom.”

“Me either. Are you sure? I’ve been tested and I’m good,” he said, his words choppy.

“Yes.” She skated her thumb over the tip, collecting his need before she guided him to her opening and he slowly sank into her body.

Painstakingly slow, like he really did have all the time in the world.

When he was finally buried to the hilt, their shuddering breaths mingling, she broke the kiss and met his gaze.

His cheeks were flushed with a heat that matched her own.
