Page 110 of Awakening His Daddy

“Can you scramble eggs?” Daddy asks.

“Oh yes! I’m very good at making eggs.”

We all manage to work together in the kitchen without stepping on each other’s toes too much, and it’s perfect. Exactly what I would have wished for.

“Alright. You boys sit down, and I’ll bring over your plates,” Daddy says.

“Waffles for you and cut waffles for you.” He gives me the cut one. “What kind of toppings would you like?”

“Whipped cream and syrup,” I say, and Daddy covers the waffle in syrup before topping it with a mountain of whipped cream.

“And for you?” He turns to Whit.

“Can I have the same but with strawberries?”

“Of course.”

“Mimosa time.” Leo comes over. “Half-and-half for you, my boy. And mostly orange juice for you.”

I’m going to pout.

“You don’t want to mix drugs with liquor,” Daddy says and sits down next to me. He puts one pill next to my plate. “I thought we would try one today since you seem to be doing well.”

I take a moment to think about it, and he’s right. It’s been just over a week, and I think I can take less.

“That sounds like a good plan.”

“What was your favorite present?” Leo asks Whit when he sits down.

“I really liked the drone but also the special toy you gave me last night.” He blushes, and Leo grins.

“How about you, Izzy?” Leo asks me.

“The tablet is pretty awesome, and I can’t wait to race the drones.”

“Too bad it’s still snowing,” Whit grumbles.

“Yeah, no drones in this weather,” Daddy says.

“But my favorite present is having my family together for the holidays.”

“That’s sweet,” Daddy praises me and kisses my cheek.

“You’re a real sap, Iz,” Leo teases, but he takes my hand across the table. “But that’s my favorite present too.”

I happily stuff my face and enjoy this moment before I hear a meow. It’s soft, but I’m sure I heard it.

“What is it, baby?”

“I think I heard Winter.”

We all stop talking, and then I hear her again.

“Oh yeah,” Leo says, and we all get out of our chairs.

We follow the sound of her meowing.

“I wonder if she got locked somewhere?” Daddy asks.
