Page 88 of Stuck On Them

“Yes, sir.” I put the bowl of fun-sized candy in the middle of the table.

“Paige,” Luca groaned. “Don’t throw out ‘yes, sirs’ at work. I wouldn’t want one of the clients to think I was popping a boner for him.”

Ryker leaned back in his chair at the head of the table, folding his hands on his stomach. “I don’t know, Luca. Alexander Badden was voted one of the hottest bachelors under twenty-five a few years ago. He might be looking hot today.”

“Ethan is going to have a hard time taking meeting minutes when Paige goes on breaks.” Garrett grabbed a piece of candy from the bowl. “This was a bad idea. I’m going to eat candy all day.”

“Good. It will make you even sweeter.” I smiled as I handed them each their folders, putting the others for the Baddens in front of empty seats. They had been sent digital copies of everything, but it was often easier to work with a paper copy.

“What’s this?” Ryker took the sticky note off his folder.

“What’s what?” I walked to the credenza against the far wall and opened the sliding door to grab water bottles for anyone who needed one.

“You dirty girl. I’m going to hold you to this.” Ryker folded the pink note and put it in his jacket pocket.

I’d written them each a short note of encouragement but also added congratulatory under-the-desk blow jobs were in store for them.

“This is the dream.” Luca held his note to his chest before slipping his into his pocket.

“Can I get mine now? My pants are feeling a little tight in the crotch region.” Garrett adjusted himself under the table.

I needed to ignore them and not spur them on. The last thing I wanted was to have to squeeze my thighs together the whole meeting thinking about dropping to my knees for them. “Is there anything else I need to get? They should be here any minute.”

“Just your ass in this chair.” Luca patted the seat next to him. He was sitting to the left of Ryker, and Garrett sat to the right.

“Are you going to be able to keep your hands to yourself?” I went to the door, needing to go get my laptop and coffee.

“I am the consummate professional, Ms. Harper. Hey! Don’t kick me!”

I shook my head at Luca’s ridiculousness and left the conference room, heading back to my office to grab my stuff. I really hoped the meeting went well for the guys because it would be one less strain on their relationship.

Ryker had been making tremendous efforts to not be so attached to work, and his relationships with his two best friends had improved right before my eyes. It helped that they also were working on the community project with Ryker and that brought him a level of peace over his past.

I unplugged my laptop, grabbed a notepad and sticky notes, along with a pen, and turned to head back down the hall but stopped dead in my tracks.

My stomach dropped to the floor as I watched six people file into the conference room, one whose side profile I was very familiar with.

As if sensing someone was staring at him in horror, he turned his head, his smile sliding right off his face.

Daniel.

What the fuck was he doing in New York City, at my work, with clients that had their own legal counsel?

I darted out of the doorway so he couldn’t see me anymore and slowly sat down in the chair across from my desk, my mind working so hard it was using all of my energy. It had to be a mistake. I was just seeing things.

I opened my laptop, had to type my password twice because my hands were shaking so badly, and pulled up the law firm I used to work at. Maybe they’d partnered with the Badden brothers. Thompson and Turner specialized in corporate law, so it could have been a possibility. This was such a big business deal, maybe the Baddens wanted more expertise.

Clicking on the associates tab, I sucked in a breath as I scrolled through the list of senior associates. He wasn’t there. I quickly checked the partners’ list, which was something Daniel had been striving for since he went to work at his father’s law firm.

There was a knock on my open door and I jumped, knocking my stuff off the edge of my desk where it had been precariously perched.

“Damn, girl. You act like you’ve been caught watching porn.” Ethan chuckled. “The meeting is ready to start.”

I shut my laptop and picked up my spilled belongings. “Thanks. I was just checking something.”

“Hey, are you okay?” Ethan came in and shut the door. “You look like you’re about to pass out. Did you eat breakfast?”

I shut my eyes, begging for the tears to stay away. I didn’t need this today and not just because it was an important meeting. Because it was the day before I would have promised myself to Daniel.
