Page 60 of Widow

The voice in the back of my mind brought me comfort, and I shut my eyes as Lia stroked me behind my ears.

"You have lost some of your magic, friend." Picard's voice made me open my eyes.

He was standing right in front of my face. He was worried; I could tell by his furrowed brows. I made a noise in my throat, and he put his tiny hand on my nose.

"I will give you some of mine."

I wanted to protest, but he was already starting to glow.

"What's he doing?" Lia sounded alarmed, and Picard looked up at her.

"I'm lightening his soul, love. The last thing we need is him to be all dark and twisted inside." Picard knew no one except me could understand him, but he still chose to talk to everyone.

I felt his light magic flow into me, and I yelped as it replenished what the lightning had sucked from me. Maybe there was even a little more than before. My soul felt lighter.

My body shook, and I shifted back.

"Fuck, Ric. What the hell?" Lucifer's hand was on my bare ass. I guess he hadn't been done with my tail yet.

"I need to rest. Keep it down, will you?" Picard gave me a weak smile and scampered over to my backpack, climbing inside.

I frowned as he zipped himself inside. Picard had never once given me any of his magic, but what he held inside was something he was hunted for. It was why I had found him hiding in the crevice of a rock, barely alive.

"As glad as I am that you seem to be all right now, why are you two naked?" Kai stood in front of us with his hands on his hips.

It drew attention to the raging hard-on he had.

Lucifer cleared his throat and stood, joining Kai. I was used to being naked, just not around two men I was in competition with.

Mates.

I frowned. The voice should have said mate, not mates. Lia was my mate.

What was I supposed to do with that?
