“It’s not enough if you’re not willing to fight, you’re right. But I’m here, you’re here, and I’m a fucking warrior. Are you?”

“Call—”

“I asked you a question, Pea. Are you a fucking warrior?”

“Fuck yes.”

She smiled, leaning down to kiss me. “I’m glad to see you’ve pulled your head out of your ass.”

I chuckled, my body screaming in pain with the action.

“Shit. Sorry, honey,” she whispered. “Where the hell is that nurse?”

“Wait,” I said. “I want to make sure you’re really here before they drug me up again.”

“I don’t know if I’m brave enough to suck you off right here, right now, but I could try giving you a handy under the sheets,” she said.

“I swear to Christ, woman, you need to stop making me laugh... and hard.”

She bit her lip, leaning down to kiss me again. “Sorry, not sorry.”

“Did Minus really talk to you about the club?”

“Yes, but he hired me as his lawyer first, so everything he said is protected by attorney client privilege.”

“God damn, you’re smart.”

“And, you need sleep,” she said.

“I love you,” I whispered.

“I know,” she whispered back, but before she could kiss me again, my nurse walked in and gave me a dose of pain meds, and I fell asleep with a smile on my face for the first time since this nightmare started.
