She winces and rubs where I punched her. Oh my God, it wasn’tthathard. “You do? Oh, good. Sophia does a really good—”

“Oh, I’m sure she does,” I cut her off, slinging my arm around her waist and turning her toward the main staircase. “But no one does it better than The Zen Garden.”

“The Zen Garden,” she repeats, her eyes glazing briefly. “Is it new?” Viv bats her fake eyelashes at me, one of which is starting to come unglued. “Because my daughterlovessushi and she’s never mentioned it before.” For a second, Viv’s eyes aren’t as glittery as before. “But we’re not talking right now.”

Wow, awkward.

“Oh, uh, it’s brand-new. Opened up like a week ago,” I improvise through gritted teeth. “Hey, how about we go there for lunch? Wouldn’t that be nice? Just us two gals, and the best sushi in Orlando? Then you could call your daughter and tell her all about it.”

Viv nods enthusiastically. “Oh, I’d love to!” Her eyes drop, and her smile twists into a grimace. “That’s not what you’re wearing though, is it?”

“What, this? Hell no!” I wave her away with a splutterypfft. “Just came back from the gym.” I pat my stomach. “I worked up a real appetite.” I stop, glance around like I’m trying to figure this all out.

But I don’t have to.

Viv is already a part of my new master plan.

If Savage is too fucking busy checking out some dead guy called Doc, then I’m going to speak to Donny myself.

“You know what? I’m going to go change, and then I’ll meet you in the, uh, by the front door?”

“Yes!” Viv nods enthusiastically. “This is going to be so much fun!”

God, her high-pitched voice is already giving me a headache.

I grin at her, but the expression slides off my face the moment Viv disappears around the corner.

Sam and Matty appear a second later.

Only Sam seems relieved to see me.

Don’t worry boys—I won’t be your problem much longer. I’ve figured out the perfect getaway…with Viv as my unknowing accomplice.

Chapter Forty-One

Nyx

“Where do you think you’re going?” Matty demands the second I turn and head for the massive double doors leading out of the villa.

They didn’t say anything when I went back to Savage’s room to change. Didn’t say anything when I came out wearing my wedding dress—this time with underwear thatdidn’tshow through the fabric.

I even put my hair up.

But I keep Savage’s jacket bundled up under my arm, because I know I’ll need it later.

Sam gives the jacket a suspicious stare. “Whatever you’re trying to do, it’s not going to work.”

“Oh, it’s already worked,” I tell them.

I’m swaying my hips way too much, but I can’t help it. I’m so happy I could start skipping. I jog down the stairs in my sneakers—which, thankfully, the dress all but hides with its long skirts—and wave at Viv who’s waiting by the door.

“Shit,” Sam mutters behind me.

I can’t help but grin. “Viv, darling! Are we taking the Rolls?”

“Of course,” she calls back. “Pablo’s waiting for us.” Viv looks past me at Sam and Matty. “I don’t think there’s space for both of them in the front, doll.” Then she touches my arm, looking at my hair. “You remind me of my daughter, you know that?”

“Really?” My smile is starting to strain. “How so?”
