When I’m not ‘wowed’ by his statement, he begins to freak out.
“The real tea with him is that he’s the reason why their Ruthless Maiden died,” he whispers like some sort of ancient secret. “No one knows why or how. It was the biggest mystery at L.R.U. for the longest time because everything seemed set. Everyone was confident the girl would ascend to a Ruthless Queen, and suddenly, boom! She’s lying there dead in her own blood. Even though everyone is saying the fourth Ruthless King encouraged her end for not protecting her or something, I know better. I carry the truth.”
And what would that possibly be?
I roll my eyes and intend to give up on this conversation.
“She killed herself.”
I freeze then, unable to move a single muscle.
“Everything points to suicide, despite so many saying she was murdered. Those Kings made her beyond miserable. Was so sick in the head and ruthless, I bet you that women barely have the energy to mingle with anyone. Defeated and ruined. No wonder why she had a bullet to her hea?—”
The disruptive sound encourages the heavy drop and twitching of the man, who was spilling nothing but nonsense.
I lower my eyes to my hand, watching the slight tremble while I grip the gun with all my might.
“Steady, Aries,” I mutter the words I wish to hear from the source.Even if it was one more time.“Steady.”
“You know damn well our Blooming Desire would have disliked you killing senselessly.”
I grow rigid at the all-too-familiar voice. I’m even more tempted to point my gun his way and emphasize how easy it could be to whip him off the earth like everyone else.
Now, I’d be lying to myself…
“Don’t get all trigger-friendly because the truth still hurts.” I glance over my shoulder to see the royal come out from his shadowed spot. It was my mistake to assume it was my younger brother. I’ve been used to him stalking me around these last few weeks when he’s able to.
He should be stalking V, not me.
Then again, she got two fucking psychos doing that already.
“What do youwant, Theo?” I haven’t said that name in a long time.
“Nothing,” he casually states, but it’s all bullshit. “I’m just intrigued as to why you think this method is going to last long.”
Method?
This man’s assumptions always pissed me the fuck off. He’s no different from all those years. Still a nosey fucking royal with too much brains.
“Why don’t you focus on your Maiden?”
“I don’t like her,” he says so boldly, it boggles my mind enough to look at him directly.
“What do you mean, you don’t like her?”
“Why am I going to act as if she can replace our Blooming? She can’t. It’s obvious.”
“You’re not even giving her a shot,” I huff. “You’re doing the same thing you did to her.”
“I’m not,” he grumbles and takes a few steps to stand next to me and the body on the floor. “Besides, I’m not trailing a woman along with mixed messages, unlike you. That’s just villainess.”
“I’m not leading her on.”
“Are you intentionally stupid, or when you served, you got hit in the head because your oblivious way of thinking is absolutely disgusting,” he concludes with an expression that wreaks disgust. “Blooming would call you out.”
“Well, she’s not fucking here, is she?” I snap back at him.
He all but smiles, reaching out to lay a hand on my shoulder. He squeezes it hard, making me flinch because it’s that shoulder that never really healed from that day.
