“She can touch me though,” Anson said, a playful smirk on his lips.

Cole got to his feet and made to step toward Anson who pushed off the mantle. Fox and Ethan were immediately on their feet and pushing Cole back.

“Fucking say that shit again,” Cole snarled. “You don’t fucking say shit like that. Know your place, you fucking prick.”

“Enough.” Enzo glared at Anson and then at Cole. “Not fucking now. Anson knows the rules. He’s to protect her. That’s all.”

I glanced around the room and noted the tension. The horsemen may have rules in place with this Anson character, but it was clear as day that he wasn’t afraid of shit. I’d seen him tonight. The guy knew what the hell he was doing.

“And Trent?” I demanded, trying to steer the conversation back. I wanted to check on Levin again and get back to B and Dom. That shower was sounding like perfection too.

“Trent is Anson’s brother. They’re looking for their mother and sister’s killer,” Enzo said. “They have reason to believe it’s tied to Ivanov’s clan.” Enzo glanced to Trent, who threw back his drink before he focused on me.

“I went undercover into the lords. Worked my ass off to get in good with Hail. I needed information on my mother and sister’s killer. While I was working that angle, Anson was working the streets and getting in with the horsemen,” Trent said.

I looked to Anson. “So, you aren’t really Rosalie’s friend? You used her.”

Anson’s blue eyes zeroed in on me. “I was drawn to her for her talent. Her personality. The rest was just extremely fucking good luck for me. She means the world to me. I’d never harm her, but I grew up on the streets and need some fucking closure. Both Trent and I do. I’ve always been honest with her. She knows everything about me and even shit I don’t know about myself."

Cole scoffed at his words but said nothing else as he shook his head.

It wasn’t so much Anson’s words that got me. It was the look in his eyes. He was a guy who clearly cared about a girl he couldn’t have. I immediately felt for him. He was the ultimate friend zone example because it was clear to see that the horsemen weren’t going to let him join them no matter what he did. Cole hated him. Fox appeared neutral. Ethan was probably the only one who had a kind bone in his body and would give the poor guy a chance.

And Enzo?

I glanced over at him as he sat with his dark eyes narrowed on Anson.

Who the fuck knew.

Glad it wasn’t my problem, however.

Not that we didn’t have a similar problem with Drake, but Dom and Levin didn’t know about it. I was sure it would eventually come out though.

“The rest of my story needs to be told directly to Dominic,” Anson continued. “I think it’s best if he hears it from me and Trent. We’re still in shock as well.”

“Dom won’t be down tonight. He’s going to stay with B,” I said. “But I’ll let him know you guys need to speak to him.”

“I accept that.” Anson nodded. “I’d rather he rest anyway. It’s been a long night for all of us.”

Indeed it had been.

“We’d like to offer you guys sanctuary,” Enzo said, drawing my attention to him. “The house burned to the ground. It’s gone. Drake shot Bianca. Tate knows that. He knows she probably didn’t make it. This can give you guys an out.”

His words hung in the air. I blinked at him.

“You mean. . . we can fake our deaths?”

Enzo inclined his head at me. “If you so choose. You may rest up here, and we’ll make sure you’re never found if that’s how you want to do things. You can take Bianca and keep her safe and live a better life. The choice is yours.”

I frowned, all sorts of wild possibilities rushing through my head. B’s freedom. Safety for the babies. For her. For all of us. Levin wouldn’t have to go into the fold. Dom could have the family he’d always wanted. We could marry. Start a real life together.

I swallowed hard, suddenly realizing just how much I wanted that.

“You can discuss it with Dom and Levin. Even Fallon. Let us know. Stay here until you decide. No one will know you’re here,” Enzo continued gently.

“And Anson and Trent aren’t turncoats and going to run back and tell Matteo?” I raised a brow.

“I’d rather die than betray family,” Anson said fiercely. Trent nodded beside him and took another drink.
