I sighed, then went to Enzo’s office and knocked softly. A moment later, he pulled the door open and gestured for me to enter.

If ever was a scene I never thought I’d see, it was this one.

The horsemen sat in various spots in the pristine office, on leather furniture, as Anson leaned against the mantle over the fireplace, and Trent sitting on a barstool drinking next to Drake.

“Welcome,” Enzo said, offering me a smile.

I stepped deeper into the room, suddenly worried about whether or not I was about to be killed. After tonight, I wasn’t even sure who was on whose side.

“Have a seat,” Enzo said. “I’ll get you a drink.”

He moved past me, then grabbed a bottle of whiskey from the bar and poured me a glass as I settled on the end of a leathercouch. He came back and handed it to me before taking his place in a high-back chair similar to the one Dom had.

“How’s Bianca?” Drake asked as I settled in.

“Sleeping.”

“Has she woken at all?” Ethan was quick to ask.

“Uh, Dom said she was awake for a few minutes before she dozed off again.”

He breathed out and sank back in his chair, relief on his face.

“Can someone explain what the fuck is going on?” I asked after a silent moment.

Enzo cleared his throat. “Ah, well. A lot, actually. Where should I begin?”

“The part where you have the lords working with you and some guy working with Matteo. Then Drake shooting my girl.” I directed a glare at Drake, who stared back at me without flinching.

“It wasn’t a bullet. I was only trying to stop Tate from taking her. He used her as a shield, or I’d have been able to drop him. I had one shot with that tranq. I used it on her. She was too much for him, so he left her and ran. I got a hit on him, though, so he’s bleeding somewhere.” Drake looked unapologetic as he spoke.

I scowled at him, not as mad as I was in the beginning, just because he’d done it to save her. It helped tamp my anger. Some.

“Fine. Tell me everything. What the fuck is going on?” I said, looking around the room at the guys.

“Tonight, there was another attempt on my father’s life. He was in the city here when it happened. I went as fast as I could. I left my personal phone behind in my rush, so I missed Dom’s call. It reminds me that he’s going to need my second phone’s number,” Enzo began. “You all should have it.”

I grunted.

“Anyway,we took care of things.Rosalie was able to reach us after Anson left to help.”

“OK. Who the fuck is this Anson guy?” I asked, glancing at the guy who was still leaning against the mantle. He hadn’t said a word. From what I knew, the horsemen hated him because he got too close to their girl. But he’d shown up for us, so some shit had gone down we weren’t aware of.

“Anson is a douche,” Cole said.

Anson let out a sigh and rolled his eyes.

“Cole,” Ethan warned, shaking his head.

“What? He is.” Cole shrugged.

I glanced to Fox to see the frown on his face.

“Anson is Rosalie’s best friend, it would seem,” Enzo said. “But he’s a little more than that. That’s why we need Dom here.”

“Is he part of your. . . group?” I asked, raising a brow at Enzo.

Cole snorted. “No he fucking is not. He’s not allowed to touch Rosalie. I’ll break his fucking fingers if he even thinks about it.”
