“Well, no. I was. It’s going to be awkward if I’m sitting there alone.” He scratched his head.
“So, you thought you’d ask me to sit with you and Dom?”
“Well, it’s me, Dom, Bianca, and Vin. You’d be the fifth.”
I smirked at that. As much as I wanted to say no, I just couldn’t. It was Bianca. And Fallon. And sue me, I gave a shitabout the kings. No idea why though. Maybe because of her. The girl I wanted and couldn’t have.
“I promise she won’t hit you again.” He winced. His face was still swollen, but it looked better than it had. Poor bastard had been put through the wringer.
“I’ll go. Let me grab a few things. I’ll meet you downstairs.”
“Thanks.” Fallon smiled and turned to go.
“Fal?” Natalia called out.
He sighed and looked back at her.
“Be careful.”
“I will.” He left without another word.
“I’ll talk to him,” I muttered, getting up. “He seems to take after Levin with holding a grudge.”
She nodded as Stefan wrapped his arm around her and pulled her close.
I left the room and went to the bedroom I had to myself. I wasn’t sure when I was going to leave again. Alessio knew I had a few more jobs to complete, and I’d told him I’d be taking care of them, so I figured that could buy me some time before I had to go back into the fold.
I changed into a pair of jeans and a dark polo, then pulled my shoes on before I went downstairs, wondering exactly how awkward this was going to be.
“Careful,” Cole warned as I stepped into the living room. “You’re diving into a hornet’s nest.”
“You’re telling me,” I muttered as he smirked at me.
I went to the garage and saw Dom hand Vin the keys to Enzo’s Escalade. It was blacked out and had some extra features on it, like bulletproof glass, that would keep us safer.
Vin glanced over at me and gave me a quick nod before he got behind the wheel.
Dom eyed me for a moment before he seemed to not give a shit because he got into the back where I assumed Bianca was.
“Well, let’s go,” Fallon said, blowing out a breath.
“This should be fun,” I muttered.
He chuckled softly. “Tons.”
The ride was quiet.
Definitely awkward.
Dom sat in the third row with his arm around Bianca, their heads together as they spoke in hushed whispers I couldn’t hear.
I was in the center row alone. Vincent and Fallon sat in the front.
“So,” Vincent started. “Uh. . .”
“Yeah,” Fallon muttered.
I let out a soft laugh and caught Vincent’s eye in the rearview mirror. I thought he’d talk shit. Instead, he winked at me. The reaction took me by surprise.
