“Maeve took her upstairs to get cleaned up.” I raise a brow at that. Killian throws up a hand, “Declan is with them…if you’re worried about her pulling some shit while I’m not there.”
“Do you trust her?” I ask as we walk to the entrance of the garage.
“I don’t know. I want to. Guess we’ll have to hear her out before we can decide that.” Worry is sketched all over his face.
I get it. He wants to believe she wouldn’t betray him.He loves her.Who would want to find out the woman they love betrayed not only them but their entire criminal organization?Sure as fuck not me. I just hope she can help us get Madison back.
“Don’t let her out of your sight. Not until we know for sure.”
“I don’t plan on letting her out of my sight ever again.”
Darkness encompassesme in this little room behind his closet. If I were claustrophobic this would be a nightmare. My pulse is pounding in my ears with anxiety. Moisture clings to my palms as I ball them into fists. Is this an attack from another rival syndicate or gang?Or is this…I can’t say their names. I don’t want to jinx it.
There is banging against the balcony sliding door, followed by glass shattering. Tremors course through my body. I close my fist over my mouth in an attempt to stifle a scream. Diego isn’t even here to stop whoever is about to find me.What if I get taken again? How will anyone find me then?
Whoever is in here is looking around the room. The sound of glass crunching beneath their shoes is growing significantly louder. They must be coming this way.I press my ear against the door, listening for any indication they may have entered the closet. Of course, the fucking latch gives and I tumble out.
Fuck. I try to scramble to my feet as the closet door swings open. A big ass gun is aimed at my head. A pair of black boots are firmly planted before me. My eyes track up a muscular pair of jean-clad thighs to a body I must have touched a thousandtimes by now. His handsome scruffy face peers down at me in a mixture of awe and relief.
“Liam?”My voice comes out so weak and raspy, I’m not sure he heard me.
The few seconds of shock wear off before he drops to his knees and pulls me against his solid chest. His secure embrace is everything I need to let the tears fall. My arms lace around his neck, nearly strangling the poor guy. I bury my face into his chest and just sob.
“Liam, it’sreallyyou.” Warm powerful hands run along my ribcage as he begins taking quick inventory. “You’re here. You’re really here.”If I say it enough, will it convince me this moment is real?I know what will…
My fingers tremble as I pull his face to mine and smash my lips against his. Instant relief sweeps over me as he opens up and deepens the kiss. Liam’s fingers clasp both sides of my tear-stained face as he devours me. A throaty moan slips from my mouth when his tongue slides between my lips. He must mistake it as pain and backs off. Adjusting his grip on my face, he cradles my head like I’m the most precious thing in the world to him. The intensity in which he loves me brings on a whole flood of fresh tears.
He’s here.
We are together again.
I’m safe.
Liam moves to stand, helping me up, and wrapping a protective arm around me.
“I would go to the ends of the Earth to find you. Even death itself couldn’t stop me from getting to you. I would fight tooth and nail, and drag my sorry arse out of the depths of Hell, just to have you back in my arms. You aremine, Madison. Anyone who has touched what’s mine will no longer be breathing by the end of tonight.”
His declaration is everything I needed to hear and more.
Our hands intertwine as he leads us out of the closet. He stops so abruptly, I almost smack into him. There’s a person in front of us. Instinctively Liam pushes me behind him. An animalistic growl rips out of him.
Diego is now chest to chest, practically nose to nose with Liam. Those ocean-blue eyes dart to mine, briefly distracting him. Liam lunges out a hand and viciously wraps it aroundThe Bone Breaker’sthroat.
An almost apologetic expression crosses Diego’s face before he swings. The sound of his fist slamming into Liam’s jaw makes me gasp and recoil. Liam practically howls, tackling Diego to the ground and pinning him there. Deadly fists pound into Diego’s ribcage before wrapping around his neck. Those blue eyes widen with a hint of fear before he cracks his fist against Liam’s lip, sending him reeling backward.
Watching those two beautiful beasts fight with their bare hands has me in a trance. One filled with fear…and coated in a bit of lust—if I’m being honest. I snap out of it when the crimson liquid dripping off Liam’s lips grabs my attention.
“Stop!” I scream at the two of them.
Neither one of them is dying tonight.
My stubborn, rage-filled man shuffles me behind him before aiming his rifle at Diego.
He is a few seconds too late–thank God.Ocean Eyesalready has his Glock pointed at my man. My feet move on their own, and I find myself standing between the two weapons. Liam immediately lowers his at the sight of me. Horror and confusion are written all over his face.
“Madison, baby. Move.”
“Dale,Mariposita,” Diego agrees.
