“Because why?”Is he really going to make me say it?My lips wobbled, but I quickly got my emotions in check.
“Because you just said you didn’t know what you were thinking bringing me here,” I hissed quietly, looking around to make sure no one overheard us. It was one thing I’d embarrassed him or them; another was embarrassing myself.
“I obviously didn’t arrive looking like you expected or didn’t meet your expectations.” I glanced at the building in front of us and thought of everything that could have happened within those walls. I shook my head and tried to focus on the stupidly handsome doctor in front of me.Where was I? Giving him a piece of my mind.
“Whatever it is, is fine. I’m not—“ I didn’t get to finish my sentence.
Sweet, usually mild-mannered Joshua Silver pulled me straight into his arms, and his hand dove right into my hair, his hold on me firm. There weren’t a lot of people around, but there were some. Some that shocked me to see because they were usually on the big screen or gracing rock and roll magazine covers. Not that I got to recognize anyone when his face moved right in front of mine, my head tipped up just right to focus on him.
“That’s not how I meant it. Not even close.” He breathed roughly, and if that wasn’t enough, his head dipped down so his lips were just shy of touching my ear. “You look like a fucking wet dream come true. I knew you would look fucking gorgeous, but I should have been prepared, and I wasn’t.”
“Prepared for what?” I asked quickly, my tone breathy and low for only his ears.
“Prepared for you to look like this.” The appreciation was clear in his voice.
One of his hands dropped down to my waist and then lower. Heat hit my face.Dr. Silver is grabbing my ass!In public! Where anyone could see us. My ex hardly held my hand in public since he hadn’t been a fan of public displays of affection. Probably because he had been running around with who knew how many women.
But there was no mistaking Josh’s intention. His hand on my ass, the way it molded around the cheek and squeezed, was all but a claim on me.
“You’re the best, most beautiful dream come to life, Elena. We’re about to walk into a club where people go for one thing in mind, and all I can think about, despite the Hippocratic Oath I took when I became a doctor, is how I’m going to want to tear every man’s eyes out of their sockets for daring to look at what’s mine. What’s ours.”Wow.It was a barbaric statement but seriously hot.
“Josh.” I trembled in his arms, and when he pulled me closer, making the front of my body brush completely against his, it was my eyes that sought his when I felt how hard he was.Rock solid.
“You’re—“
“I’m always that way around you,” he interrupted. For some reason, my traitorous body leaned closer to him. “But tonight is worse,” he confessed, and I melted into him. There was something in his beautiful light blue eyes that softened, and when he started to talk from the heart, just like that, I knew I was done putting a hand up between us.
Between what could possibly happen.
“I’m sorry I instantly got jealous and made you think you looked anything but fucking gorgeous.” I trusted every word he said. His hand moved from my hair and caressed my jawline.
“Okay. I’m sorry for jumping to conclusions and snapping.” I genuinely meant it.
“We will talk about that later,” he warned. My brows furrowed, unsure of what that meant. No that I had a chance to ask because the man just kept talking. “But I have a feeling I know where it stems from, and I know for a fact the three of us are more than ready and seriously looking forward to making it to the day when that’s not where your mind immediately goes.”
“Josh, I, umm…” I licked my lips because I found myself speechless.
“Did you have a drink in the limo?” I shook my head. “Good girl,” he praised before taking my hand with his. He lifted it between us, and without taking his eyes off mine, he brushed his lips across my knuckles.
“You ready to see what we have in store for you tonight?”Am I ready?I didn’t really have to think too long.
“Yes. I am.” Lines formed at the side of his eyes like they did when he was around Mike and Betsy, and they did something sweet.
“Let’s go.” His fingers tangled with mine, and we walked into Club Sin hand in hand.
The place was a lot different than I had imagined.
Not that I knew what to imagine. It wasn’t like they had pictures of the interior on their website or online. If anything, taking pictures inside was prohibited. Josh led me around, showing me the bar area and a couple of dance floors and lush, opulent, and abundant sitting areas. There were different kinds of rooms, each one already busy with different kinds of scenes playing out.
The whole place was beautiful. Clean and elegant. Classy. But if I was honest, it was a little overwhelming to my senses, and that was saying something since I worked in an emergency room in a metropolitan city. I wasn’t surprised that Josh could tell as he led us toward what seemed like a private elevator. There was a guard standing there who smiled at Josh. They talked, and he showed the big guy a card before pulling me into his side.
“Room One Nineteen,” he said, and the guy nodded before looking at the iPad in his hands.
“I got you, doc. You four are all checked in.” His eyes moved to me with a polite smile. “Have a good time.” I nodded hoping it wasn’t obvious just how nervous I was.
The elevator doors slid open, and Josh stood to the side, making sure to follow close behind me when I stepped in. He didn’t even wait for the doors to shut before he leaned over, resting his arms on the elevator wall on either side of me.
“Before we walk into the room, there are a couple of things we need to talk about that you gotta know.”
