Trevor held onto her waist. “Are these your negotiating skills?”
Her fingers slid into the back of his hair. “Are they working?”
“Absolutely.” He sank into her kiss. Life would be exciting if she always tried to get her way with him by her innocent flirting and seduction. She had him wrapped around her finger, and for the time being, he’d stay right there. He’d never released that much control with another woman. He’d never had the overwhelming urge to make a woman happy, show her how much he cared, in the way he acted.
His dating routine was pretty standard. Dinner and sometimes a kiss. Sometimes more.
And he definitely wanted the sex side of the relationship with Sam, but the build-up was turning out to be just as sweet. The anticipation of the next time he could kiss her. Touch her. Make her smile.
Because he wanted her happy above everything else.
“Will you two stop giving the entire parking lot a free show?” Addie’s voice yelled from far away.
Trevor leaned back and looked to the entrance of the movie theater. Addie pointed at her wrist, which didn’t have a watch, but he knew what she meant.
“We need to go.” He patted Samantha’s hip and set her beside him. He kept his arm around her, his hand resting along the curve of her waist.
“Do you really mean it that you’ll try to sing with me?”
The breathless quality of her voice made him want to skip the whole damn movie.
“I’ll try to sing with you, Sam, in rehearsal. We’ll see how it goes. But I’m not a performer. Singing along with a great band in the car with the music cranked up is a little bit different than singing a song for a wedding without the cover of the real deal playing in the background.”
“But you’ll try.”
“Yes.” He kissed the top of her head, breathing in the sweet smell from her shampoo. “I’ll try to sing.”
For you.

“I’m not going.” Samantha shook her head as she listened to her Zara’s third argument that there was a contractual obligation to be there. Samantha had trusted her agent to make the right decisions for her, not screw Jasper. And now she was expected to let her boss her around? Samantha didn’t grow a backbone after trashing her dress just to lose it now.
“They will take legal action against you.”
“What kind of legal action?”
Trevor cocked his head to the side, his look sharp and lips pressing into a firm line. Poor guy was trying to be a friend and not have his “agent hat” on, but it was killing him. She’d been wrong to peg him as an agent like Zara or the others she’d met. She could use his help. She’d be dumb not to.
“Can you send me the contract, Zara?”
“Why?” Now, Zara sounded nervous. Good. Serves her right for the crap she’d pulled.
“Because I have a new agent that I want to take a look at it.”
Trevor jumped at the chance. He leaned forward and held out his hand for the phone.
Zara stumbled over her words. “I still negotiated this contract, Sam. If you back out, I’ll sue you for my rightful percentage.”
“Too bad I can’t sue you for sleeping with Jasper—”
Trevor took the phone from her hand. “Hello, I’m Trevor Johnson, let me give you my email address. You can send it there.” His serious expression at that moment didn’t match his fun personality from before.
She smiled, hoping to avoid Zara ruining their afternoon together. She trailed a finger around the edge of his T-shirt along his neck, right where it met his skin, listening to the deep bass of his “business voice” as he discussed something with Zara.
Trevor was used to getting his way. He’d tucked this side of his personality away after that first fight, but it was still there. Everything about him took on the edge of authority when he worked.
“No. I don’t want a percentage. You can keep that. Then, you’ll have to sue. No, the lawyer fees for that won’t kill her, I’ll represent her for that as well.” He sighed and looked at the ceiling, seeming bored. “Yes, I’m areallawyer.” After another beat, he added, “from Stanford.”
