And one intense primal sex session out in the woods.

But I couldn’t tell him about that. Gentlemen didn’t spill the details of such things. Especially when it concerned the woman I adored.

“I’m ready to do whatever it takes.”

He smiled. “Admirable. Then let us begin.”

I watched Orpheus as he sighed deeply and loosened his shoulders while he looked out over the picturesque surroundings from our position on the turrets of Electi Academy.

“You seem calmer,” I said, walking over and leaning against the rough stone beside him. “For the last several days actually.”

“I found a release.”

I cocked an eyebrow. “And what might that be?” I grinned. “Because whatever it was, they should definitely bottle it.”

The corner of his mouth turned up. “I get it, I was a real dick. And I’m sorry.”

“You already apologized—many times over—and we’re good again. Besides, that was days ago now and you haven’t lost your temper with me during our training sessions since, or beena real dickeither.”

Off his widening smile, I asked, “So, what calmed you down?”

He broke eye contact and lifted his shoulder. “Just a trick I can do with my magic.”

“A trick?”

Seeing my interest, he told me quickly, “Specific to Dark Fae.”

He was being evasive.

I’d come to learn well that it didn’t bode well when it came to Orpheus Hart.

Butwith him in a calm state for the last little while, I didn’t want to upset that by pushing him for whatever he was keeping to himself.

It was bad enough not having Xavier around much.

First, it had been because he hadn’t been down with themissionwe were working, but we’d still seen him in classes, during lunch, and to hang out. Just any talk about the business side of things and he wouldn’t hear it and he’d recuse himself.

But now there was also the therapy he was undergoing with Professor Wilhelm. Over the last few days we’d barely seen him. Once at lunch was all he’d managed.

I hadn’t said anything because it was so important that he was engaging in therapy like that and learning to be at peace with his vampire side. After three years of going the other way, he really needed it so badly.

But I missed him. I missedus.

And with one down in our foursome, the last thing I wanted was to rile Orpheus up and have him becoming distant too.

“Well, I have something that may send your calm and good mood into the stratosphere,” I told him.

He cocked an eyebrow. “What’s that?”

I stepped back and unfurled my wings. “We need to gain some distance from the campus buildings first. As much as we can withthe domein effect anyway.”

I jumped off the building and did a little spin in the air, before turning to him and hovering there, waiting for him to join me.

“Hmm, my curiosity is piqued, little angel.”
