“St. Orcas,” Tristyn called, making Theon pause and look back over his shoulder.
Something about him had shifted. His entire demeanor seemed darker, more menacing.
Wicked.
“Threaten me again like you did today, and your brother will be the new Arius Heir,” he went on with a smile that was anything but pleasant.
“You think you can kill me?” Theon asked with a sneer, his darkness pooling at his feet.
Tristyn only turned around and went back to his computer, opening the laptop back up. “Destruction or salvation. The choice is yours,” he answered. “Get out.”
His phone rang, pulling his attention away, and when he found the number Tessa had been calling from flashing on the screen, he walked away from Tristyn.
“Tessa?”
“Hi.”
“I’m about to go into an elevator. The connection might be bad for a second.”
“Where are you?”
“Lilura Inquest.”
There was a small gasp. “You went to see Tristyn? Why?”
He waited to answer until he was off the elevator. “How do you know I went to see him?” he asked, stepping back outside.
“Why else would you go there?”
“It’s a huge tech company,” he answered.
She hummed a reply.
“You’re calling early today.”
“Yep.”
“Everything going all right?”
“I guess.”
“Tomorrow is the halfway point.”
“Great,” she muttered.
“Are you getting enough to eat and everything?”
She sighed. “Yes, Theon. They’re feeding me and bathing me and everything. Taking good care of your pet.”
“That’s not what I?—”
“Is Luka nearby?”
Theon glanced at his friend, who was watching him with his arms crossed. He arched a brow.
“He’s here,” Theon answered.
“Can I talk to him?”
