Finally, Theon asked, “Do you have access to information on the Estate Mothers?”

“I do.”

“I want everything you have on Cordelia.”

Tristyn clicked his tongue. “That’s not how this works, Arius Heir. I’ll need something in exchange.”

“Like what?” Theon bit out.

“A trip to the Underground.”

Theon blinked in shock. “For what?”

“That’s my business. Everything I can find on Cordelia, the Celeste Estate Mother, in exchange for a one-day unaccompanied trip to the Underground. Do we have a bargain?” Tristyn asked, holding out his hand.

“It’s an accord,” Theon replied, slapping his hand into his. The prickling sensation above the crook of his elbow told him he’d find the Bargain Mark there when he changed tonight.

Rounding his desk, Tristyn opened his laptop once more, the three monitors coming to life. Theon couldn’t keep up with the male as he entered codes and passwords in various programs. Theon and Luka said nothing as he worked, though Theon checked his phone again, not knowing when Tessa would call today.

The knock on the door had the two of them turning, but Tristyn never looked away from his screen.

“Yes, Maggie?”

The female who’d met them at the elevator pushed the door open. She glanced at Theon and Luka before she said, “There are reports of wolves in the Dreamlock Woods.”

Tristyn’s only response was a hummed acknowledgment before she shut the door once more.

“Is there significance to that?” Theon asked when he continued to do whatever it was he was doing.

“There is.”

“And what will the cost be for that information?” Theon asked darkly.

“Nothing,” Tristyn said with a shrug. “They’re not mine.”

“Then why are they important?”

“They’re hers,” he said simply before shutting his laptop once more. “I sent everything over to you. It’s encrypted and coded to your magical signature in the system. Only you will be able to open the files.”

“And the wolves?” Theon asked.

“What about them?”

“Their significance?”

“The Dreamlock Woods is not known for its wildlife,” Tristyn said.

“Because of the magic that inhabits it,” Luka cut in.

“Exactly,” Tristyn said, coming around his desk once more. “Since you’re here, I’ve heard you’re looking for a new private instructor for Tessa.”

“It will not be you,” Theon said sharply.

“We’d never get anything done with all that drinking and pizza-eating,” Tristyn said with a smirk. “But I do have a suggestion. I will send her to you for an interview.”

“Fine,” Theon said tightly, not that he’d hire anyone recommended by Tristyn Blackheart at this point.

The door opened, the female somehow knowing they were done here. Theon turned to follow Luka out.
