She pulls away when we hear the car start. Lacey shocks me by turning and waving to Elizabeth as she pulls down the driveway, with my hands still on her ass. I would have never pegged Lacey as the vindictive type. But here we are. And I will never forget the look on Elizabeth’s face as Lacey stood there waving.
Lacey stands on her tip toes and places a gentle kiss on my lips. “I think she got the point, don’t you?” Her smile couldn’t be contained and neither could mine. She is damn proud of herself.
“Yeah, I think she did. Come on, let's go get my picture.” I say, chuckling as I lead her back to the house.
Oliver has painted a picture of his new room and what he wants me to put in there for design. I assure him that I can make it happen. He makes me promise that we put no less than five dinosaurs on the wall, and he wants a special book corner. Only if I put dinosaurs in there too.
After we review the painting thoroughly, he makes us write down the names of all the dinosaurs on his painting, I am getting a little bit nervous about delivering. I might need to find an artist to do this dinosaur part.
I laugh at him and say, "Sir, I feel like I might be able to deliver on your requests. Can I keep these?"
"Yes. I wantfivedinosaurs." He says sternly, placing the picture in my waiting hand.
“Alright, baby, why don’t you go get buckled in, we have to go home so you can get ready for your night with Grammy!” Lacey laughs at the interaction, and his serious tone.
Oliver runs out the front door to go get buckled in the car.
“So." Lacey leans in to me, "I’m really sorry I just attacked you when she was out there. I wasn’t thinking and in the moment it seemed like the perfect reaction to her bullshit.”
She looks down at the floor, embarrassed like her high of being vengeful toward Elizabeth is wearing off. The last thing I want her to be is embarrassed for kissing me or pissing Elizabeth off. Both are greatly appreciated by me.
I take a couple steps to be closer to her. She doesn’t move so I close the space between us. I lower my head to hers and hear her suck in a breath.
Her honeysuckle scent envelops me and before I can overthink it I push my hips into her which pushes her against the wall, my hand on her hip and my other hand next to her head on the wall. I close my mouth over hers again and her hands travel up under my shirt, exploring my abs. The moan that leaves her mouth has me deepening the kiss for a second time today.
I am going to count myself a lucky man already and the night hasn’t even started technically.
Beeeeeep.
We jump apart at the sound of her car horn. Lacey bursts out into laughter. “Oh my gosh. I just completely lost myself. I’m going to go get him and let you go on your run.”
“I’d much rather be kissing you up against a wall than going for a run,” I reply with a wink. “We could even burn the same amount of calories.”
I grab my phone and air pods, walking her to her car at the end of the driveway, and avoiding the conversation that I know is coming from Preston and Scarlett.
I open her door for her, then walk over to Oliver’s door so she can roll the window down for me to say goodbye. “See ya later, little dude.” I reach in for a fist bump.
“See ya later, big dude.” Oliver laughs like that was the funniest thing he’s ever said.
Once they’re gone I go back in and grab Duke for our run that he was promised. Since I’m limited on time I take him over into the wildflower field to let him run in circles, while I get a short run in.
When I get back, Scarlett & Preston are making out in the kitchen. Preston has her on the kitchen island and is exploring under her shirt.
I try my hardest to sneak past them so they don’t know I caught them in the kitchen, again. This is why I need to move out. As soon as possible.
“Oh! Hey Colton.” Preston sees me first, and I freeze. Scarlett’s eyes get big as she re-adjusts her clothes.
“Hey, uh, sorry. I was just running with Duke and now I need to shower. I’ll be quick and then we can get going to the bar.”
“No rush.” Preston is staring at Scarlett and she is biting her bottom lip. I know exactly where they are going in their heads, so I run to the bathroom to avoid any more interruptions. I need to start wearing a bell in this house to announce my arrival.
I step into the shower and pray I can make it through without thinking of Lacey, and her mouth on mine.
Chapter Nine
Lacey
When Oliver and I get back home, Addy is there waiting for us setting up a make up station in my room. She apparently feels like I need some help with getting ready. Not that I can’t go to the local bar in leggings and a sweater, which is my preferred outfit.
