It was only partially true and I was fairly certain that Taylor knew it but he didn’t press me on it.

“Why don’t you come help me order some dinner and pick out something to watch? I think we all could use a normal night.”

“I agree,” I said, clinging to the opportunity to do something other than dwell on this room.

Taylor and I made it to the stairs before he paused, giving my hand a squeeze.

“Be gentle with yourself, Sidney. This has been a ton of change and your doctor said you’re going to have a heat. Maybe that’s what’s causing a lot of this anxiety.”

He had a point and I let out a breath.

“Speaking of heat, when is yours?” Then my eyes widened. “What about a nest? Do we share?”

The thought didn’t bother me but he waved me off and grinned.

“Come here.”

He led me to the end of the hall to his room. I hadn’t seen it yet.

As I stepped in I couldn’t help but smile. It was all Taylor in here. It was clean and cozy, bright sunny colors livening up the place. There was a large painting hanging over his bed of a sunrise.

Maybe I could paint something to add to his collection someday.

The thought took me by surprise but it didn’t shock me. Taylor and I had an easy friendship and it helped ease me into this.

“My heat isn’t for another couple of months,” he explained. “I’d love for you and Bennett to help me out when it’s time. Maverick said his dad set aside some property and he was thinking of making a cabin out there for when we wanted to get away for private dates or my heats.”

My chest warmed. Maverick loved his family and he’d always planned on building out on that property. Knowing that he was going to build something and was keeping our pack in mind, meant a lot to me.

Taylor brought me to a door on the far wall and pushed it open revealing another nest.

“There’s two?” I asked in shock.

“This house was special and apparently fate was looking out for us.”

“It’s pretty,” I told him, smiling as I took in the space. The floor was lined in a soft mattress, the walls painted a pale yellow and the mix of blues and yellows on the pillows and blankets tucked around there were perfect.

“Thanks for showing me,” I said, leaning into my omega.

“I wanted to. We’ll share time in here, too,” he said gently before pulling me back to the hall and downstairs.

The house was oddly quiet, but Taylor didn’t seem to notice as he pulled out a stack of takeout menus from one of the drawers.

“What are we feeling?”

“Mexican,” I said without hesitation.

He laughed, those dimples popping and his blue eyes lighting up.

“Tacos fix everything, right?” he teased.

“Hell, yeah,” I said, helping him go through the menu to pick out enough food that we’d have everyone covered. I wasn’t sure where the others were but I didn’t want anyone left out.

“Okay, well it’s time,” he said.

I glanced around, my eyebrows raising before landing back on him. He pulled open one of the kitchen cabinets and pulled out two hugeNerfguns. He strapped a bandelier with extra bullets around my shoulder, crossing it over my torso before securing it.

“What the hell is going on?” I asked, a laugh bursting free.
