Sebastian looks up from where he’s lounging on the bed, one eyebrow quirked in curiosity. “Oh? And where exactly are we going to find this elusive spell?”
I give him a sly grin. “The restricted section of the library.”
He lets out a low whistle. “Ah, I see. And let me guess—you need my help to, what, unlock a few doors?”
I nod. “The lock on that area of the library is protected against spells. But not against natural ability, like telekinesis. That’s where you come in.”
Sebastian smirks, his amusement clear. “Breaking into restricted sections now? I like it. But do you want to practice your defense spells before we go sneaking into forbidden places or after?”
I raise an eyebrow, suspicious at the change in his tone. “Why are you asking?”
Before I can react, Sebastian is on his feet, crossing the room in two strides. His hands grip my hips, firm but teasing, and before I know it, he’s tossing me onto the bed. I land with a soft thud, eyes wide as he follows, his lips already finding mine. The kiss is heated, hungry, his weight pressing into me in the most delicious way. My wand slips from my hand, forgotten as my fingers curl into his hair, tugging him closer. His mouth moves against mine with an intensity that sends shivers down my spine, making it impossible to think about anything but him.
Pulling back just slightly, he breathes against my lips, his voice low and teasing. “Defense practice can wait, don’t you think?”
I can’t help but laugh, even as my heart races from the sudden turn of events. “You’re really going to try to distract me now?”
He grins, that cocky, self-assured smirk that drives me wild. “I’m pretty good at distractions, witch.”
I roll my eyes, but it’s impossible to hide the smile tugging at my lips. “Fine, I’ll admit… you’re not bad at it.”
Sebastian’s hands trail down my sides, his touch sending sparks across my skin. “Not bad? I’m wounded.”
I smirk, grabbing the front of his shirt to pull him back down into another kiss. “You’ll survive. But don’t think this gets you out of helping me later.”
“Wouldn’t dream of it,” he murmurs, his lips brushing mine again before his mouth moves to my neck, kissing down my throat and making my breath hitch.
For a moment, all thoughts of spells and the duel with Kyla vanish, replaced by the warmth of his body and the intoxicating way he makes me feel. But I know we can’t stay like this forever—not with everything we have planned.
Still, a few more minutes couldn’t hurt, right?
Sebastian and I slip through the empty halls, the faint buzz of lessons still echoing from the classrooms. The air feels thick with mischief, like we’re walking the line between breaking the rules and somehow bending them to our will. Not exactly new territory for us.
As we reach the library, I glance at Sebastian. “Ready for a little break-in?”
He smirks, his usual confidence radiating. “Do I ever look like I’m not ready?”
But as we reach the door to the restricted section, something feels… off. I tilt my head, reaching for the handle, and it swings open effortlessly. My eyebrows shoot up in surprise. “Huh. That was… too easy.”
Sebastian steps beside me, peering into the dimly lit room. “Maybe they forgot to lock it.”
“Yeah, right. They never forget to lock the restricted section.”
We cautiously step inside, the faint scent of musty books filling the air, but before we can take another step, we bumpinto… Skylar? And Mr. Whitlock, the student teacher she’s been drooling over for weeks?
Skylar’s eyes widen, her hand still gripping the front of his slightly disheveled shirt, while Mr. Whitlock looks like he’s in shock. For a solid moment, we all just stand there, the four of us locked in a very awkward silence.
Skylar recovers first, shooting me a look that practically screamsI saw nothing if you saw nothing.
“Never here?” I mutter, giving her a subtle nod.
“Never here,” Skylar whispers back, smoothing out her dress like nothing happened. Without another word, she and Mr. Whitlock awkwardly slip past us and head out the door. The moment they’re gone, Sebastian bursts out laughing.
“Well, that was something,” he says, shaking his head. “Skylar and Whitlock? I knew she had a crush, but I didn’t think she’d actually act on it.”
I roll my eyes. “I’m in no position to judge anyone for wanting to get laid in a library."
He grins at me. “You make a solid point.”
