"Such as?"
"That he would give us money to pay for everything and all he wanted was Ashley's hand."
I inhaled through my nose sharply. "And you just gave that up willingly? Do you not know what type of man he is?"
Harley shook his head. "He was fine…we just figured that the papers were wrong. He's charming…it wasn't until I was dropping Ashley off that it felt…wrong."
I moved to throw myself at him, but Ayden raised a hand, stopping me.
"You sold her to Logan after I directly told you that she was under my protection?"
Harley nodded. "He promised that she would be taken care of. ."
“And you believed him? Do you not care about her at all?” "I love my daughter," he snapped at me. "And I just wanted what was best for her. He promised she would have everything she wanted when she lived with him. He had space for her to have a studio and would set her up with jobs. He was offering her everything she needed."
"And you think I wasn't?"
Harley fell silent, and it took everything in me not to throw myself on him and beat the shit out of him.
"Where is she now?" Ayden asked.
"I met him at the city limits, and we traded. He gave me a wire transfer, and he took her."
I ground my teeth together. "You idiot. Why couldn't you just let her make her own decisions for once?"
"Because I love my wife….and I can’t lose her.," he said, looking at me.
"And what about your daughter?!" I snapped. "Do you have any idea what he will do to her?"
Harley frowned. "He won't hurt her. He promised."
"No, he will, especially when he finds out she's pregnant."
Harley's eyes widened in shock. "Ashley's pregnant?"
I laughed, shaking my head. "Yes! And maybe if you two gave a shit about her and what she wants, you would know.."
"Owen," Ayden placed a hand on my shoulder. "This isn't going to help anything."
"What is his address?" I snapped, looking back at Harley.
Harley quickly said it, and I typed it into my phone. Ayden turned to me as I started to dig in my pockets for my keys. "What are you doing?"
"I'm going to get her."
"If you go there like this, you're going to start a fight."
"I fully intend to," I snapped.
Ayden crossed his arms. "We have a peace treaty with them. Owen, we can't just march in there. And you've not been welcomed."
"Do we, though?" I asked him. "If this was your wife, would you be so calm, Ayden? You said he went against your direct order, which I think voids the peace treaty."
Ayden went silent before he took a step back, allowing me to pass through. It gave me his answer. He wouldn't be calm if it were his wife.
“I will call the guys and meet you up there,” he yelled as I moved.
I hurried past them down to the parking garage. I got into my truck and hit the gas, leaving skid marks in my past as I hurried to save Ashley.
